2023: Parties must do more to improve voters turnout – Toyo
Nigeria’s former ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Nkoyo Toyo, has called on Nigerian political parties to work more on the electorate to improve their turnout at the general election next year. The stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party and Cross River State governorship hopeful in 2023 spoke after the bye-elections result in the state on Saturday. The former House of Representatives member was reacting to the low voters turn out at the bye-elections in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency where the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposing PDP shared the seats with slim victories on both sides. Ambassador Toyo revealed that the outcome of the election results is a reflection of the evolution of politics in the state. Toyo also expressed confidence in the outcome of the bye-elections in the northern and southern districts of the state which ended yesterday. She said parties should enlighten political stakeholders on efforts needed to emerge victorious come 2023.
