The students of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State, on Friday protested over a planned strike by the institution’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). 558 new Coronavirus cases were confirmed in Nigeria on Thursday July 29, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Two hikers were airlifted to hospital after being hit by lightning on the summit of Snowdon. The women were at the summit of Snowdon in Wales when a freak storm hit the region yesterday afternoon, July 28. The U.S. has reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the world over the last seven days, according to the World Health Organization. The U.S. saw 500,332 new cases (a 131% increase) the week ending July 25 compared to the previous week, the WHO said. The world meanwhile has seen 3.8 million new cases (an 8% increase) over the same time period. while the number of COVID-related deaths (over 69,000) represented a 21% jump. Brazil, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and India rounded out the top five of countries with most new cases. Trafford General Hospital set ablaze by lightning strike

Patients and staff had to be evacuated from Trafford General Hospital in Greater Manchester after a lightning strike caused fire to break out at the hospital. The blaze erupted during a freak storm on Wednesday afternoon, July 28. Footage from the scene shows flames and smoke billowing out of the top of the hospital on Moorside Road, Machester, UK.
