Darren Bent has provided major reasons he believes Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest football player. He gave the reasons while slamming Captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his lack of ‘hunger and the desire’. He said these qualities are things that have made Ronaldo a great achiever in the game of football. Ronaldo scored a brace to down Arsenal on Thursday in a thrilling Premier League game at Old Trafford to clinch his 800th and 801st goals in professional football. Bent noted that Ronaldo is still firing at the ripe age of 36 and has 338 goals and 80 assists in 377 games since turning 30, a remarkable achievement. Real reason Kurt Zouma left Chelsea for West Ham – Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has given the real reason Kurt Zouma left the Blues for West Ham United last summer transfer window. Zouma, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 under Jose Mourinho’s regime, hardly cements his place in the heart of Chelsea’s defence under a succession of managers. The centre-back spent time out on loan at the likes of Stoke City, Saint-Etienne and Everton in a bid to get his career back on track. Zouma had started to make significant progress under former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, but after he was sacked in January, the 26-year-old struggled to win the faith of Tuchel. Evra said he is becoming ‘frustrated’ by the England international, expressing disappointment by Rashford’s first-half display in Thursday’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal. Rangnick, who got his work permit a day before the game, watched the match from the stands. Evra, who won plenty of titles with United, believes the new boss has been brought in partly to ‘shake up’ the players. Rashford has struggled to find his best form for the Red Devils and has failed to score in his last six appearances. Evra told Prime Video: “I want a player like Marcus Rashford playing more forward. Why I allowed Ronaldo take penalty against Arsenal – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has given reasons he allowed Cristiano Ronaldo take the team’s winning penalty against Arsenal on Thursday night. According to Fernandes, it was the 36-year-old’s turn to take the spot kick. Ronaldo scored twice in the 3-2 win over the Gunners, with the second coming from the penalty spot. Fernandes, who made it 1-1 on the night, reveals they did not discuss the change in penalty takers ahead of time. The Portuguese midfielder says he was happy to leave the responsibility to Ronaldo, after missing his last effort in United’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on September 25. “We didn’t have a chat. I missed the last one so I trust him in the same way I trust myself. “It was time for Cristiano to take the penalty because I took the l...

Ronaldo reaches 800 career goals with Arsenal double

Cristiano Ronaldo took his tally of career goals to 801 as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner struck twice for Manchester United against Arsenal on Thursday. Ronaldo’s return has been pinpointed as one of the reasons for United’s decline this season as they have struggled to find the right balance with the Portuguese up front. However, the 36-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 17 appearances since returning to the club where he first made his name as a world star. His double against the Gunners took his tally across two spells at United to 130. Ronaldo also scored 450 goals for Real Madrid, 101 at Juventus, five for Sporting Lisbon and is the record goalscorer in international football with 115 for Portugal.

Son helps Spurs see off Brentford and move sixth

Tottenham earned back-to-back Premier League wins under Antonio Conte for the first time as a 2-0 victory over Brentford moved them up to within two points of the top four. With Sunday's postponement at Burnley denying Spurs the chance to respond to last Thursday's embarrassing Europa Conference League defeat at NS Mura, their first-ever top-flight meeting with Brentford presented Conte's men with the opportunity to bounce back - and it was one they seized. Ben Davies forced an early own goal from Sergi Canos, and Heung-Min Son wrapped up the victory with a sweeping counter-attacking second midway through the second half as Spurs, who remain far from the finished article, showed signs that Conte's methods were finally beginning to bear fruit. For Brentford, having arrested their...

Ancelotti daughter: He wanted Ibrahimovic at Napoli

Napoli made an attempt for the Swede before he eventually left LA Galaxy for AC Milan. Man Utd striker Cavani welcomes interest from Xavi’s Barcelona

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is ready to join Barcelona. The Times says Cavani's deal expires in the summer, and he has ambitions of playing in La Liga before calling time on his career. The Uruguay international believes he still has two years left at the top level, and wants to link up with Xavi at Barcelona. Cavani joined the Red Devils in 2020 and signed a one-year extension in the summer. But he seems unlikely to put pen-to-paper on another extension at Old Trafford with a move to Barcelona on the cards. And with cash-strapped Barca targeting low-cost transfers, the free signing of Cavani is an attractive prospect.
