Kwara: Community confirms abduction of woman, two children in Omu-Aran

The main sociocultural body of Omu-Aran community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Saturday, confirmed the abduction of three members of the community.

The incident occurred on Friday night, DAILY POST reports, even as the state police command through its spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, claimed in a statement on Saturday that the command was yet to receive any official report on the kidnap case.

President of the association, Olayemi Lasisi Abidoye, in a statement by Olayinka Owolewa, who described the incident as unfortunate, disclosed that some arrests had been made during the search for the abductees on Saturday.

He explained that “Some unknown gunmen stormed the Oko junction axis of Omu-Aran, some few minutes before eight in the night on Friday and shot sporadically in the air to scare people away.”

The president of the association, said the gunmen later stormed a popular fuel station around the junction to abduct a woman and two of her children.

He said the vigilante groups had swung into action in search of the abductees.

The president commended the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti and his council for their sleepless nights overall security issues in the community.

He assured members of the community not to entertain any fear as they go about their lawful activities and appealed to both the Federal and state governments to double security apparatus around the community and its environs.
