Man City's Doyle joins Sheffield Utd on loan

Sheffield United have signed Manchester Citymidfielder Tommy Doyle on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old becomes the Blade's first summer signing with the club claiming they "fought off competition from other Championship rivals" to sign the England U21 international.

Doyle was on loan at Cardiff for the second-half of last season having made his senior City debut in the League Cup in October 2019.

"I'm excited to be here, I'm ready and looking forward to starting the season," Doyle told the club's official website. "I got the phone call that Sheffield United was interested and it is hard to say no to a club like this.

"I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, I know one or two already, but I'm focussed on getting down to work and preparing for the new season.

"I played for Cardiff at Bramall Lane last season and it wasn't easy. It was a tough day that I remember well, the fans and stadium were brilliant and I'm looking forward to playing there again."
