Chelsea right-back, Reece James, clashed with captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the club’s dressing room at Stamford Bridge following the Blues’ Premier League 5-2 shock defeat to West Brom over the weekend.
According to the Telegraph, Azpilicueta was quick to give James a piece of his mind after Chelsea’s backline began their inquest into how they conceived five goals at home to a West Brom side that have scored just 25 all season.
James was partly at fault for the visitors’ second goal and struggled to shake off the after-effects of that mistake.
The 21-year-old England international was also guilty of a number of stray passes for the remainder of the encounter as Sam Allardyce’s men ended Thomas Tuchel’s 14-match unbeaten run, thanks to goals from Matheus Pereira (2), Callum Robinson (2) and Mbaye Diagne.
However, despite the argument between James and Azpilicueta, it was reported that the duo settled their differences away from the glare of the rest of the squad.
Both defenders eventually trained alongside each other on Sunday morning at the club’s training ground.
This is coming ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League last-8 first-leg tie against FC Porto on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga also clashed in Chelsea’s training ground.
