Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said the idea of a European Super League is a bad one.
Wenger had predicted a breakaway European league almost 12 years ago and condemned the idea back then.
Now that the plan has become reality, the Frenchman is still against the proposal.
“I would say that it’s a bad idea,” Wenger told talkSPORT.
“Football has to stay united. That is the most important thing and based on sporting merits and overall to respect the history of European football.”
England’s ‘top six’ clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all signed up for the Super League.
But Wenger warned: “I believe personally that this idea will not go far.”
