According to him, hunters, members of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Agbekoya members have been mandated to ensure security of lives and property in the region. The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and founding member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams has condemned the arrest of members of the group by the Oyo state police command. LIB reported earlier that members of the group were arrested by the police in connection to an alleged arson attack which led to the death of a woman while they were trying to arrest a suspected kidnap kingpin, Iskilu Wakilu. The President of the Yoruba Indigenes Foundation, Comrade Olumide Aderibole, has saluted the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams, saying his choice by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, was apt. According to a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the foundation, Sanjo Olawuyi, Aderibole noted that the installation of Adams signalled a new era for the Yoruba traditional military institution. He explained that the Aare had very little or no war to fight, because  the prevailing trend in Yorubaland and her environment did not speak in the direction of warfare.
