The Vice-Chancellor, Istiqama University Kano, Professor Salisu Shehu has said that health inequality is worsening by the day in the northeastern region. Former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha arrived National Assembly premises at 7:40.am on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration but was denied accreditation. Okorocha, who was declared winner of the Imo West Senatorial District, was not issued certificate of return by INEC. However, a federal high court in Abuja last week ordered that he be given his return certificate. It was, however, gathered that Okorocha was not accredited by the National Assembly management to attend the inauguration. It was not clear if INEC had complied with the court’s directive.

OAU Loses Accreditation For Law, Dentistry, Botany And Medical Rehabilitation

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has lost accreditation for four of the courses offered in the institution. The National Universities Commission reportedly suspended the university’s law, dentistry, medical rehabilitation, and botany programmes, The Cable reports. Prospective students who selected any of the four courses in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination have been asked to change their course or institution. As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds its non-elective convention today, Chairman of the Accreditation/Contact and Mobilization Sub-Committee, Sir Celestine Omehia, has said the convention is a big leap towards the actualization of the party’s victory in 2019.
