Bank guards in court for allegedly stealing N2.4m from ATM

Two bank security guards were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. The defendants allegedly stole N2.4million from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). Friday Audu, 43, lives in Oyewole compound in Iyana Ipaja, and Haruna Anaja, 40, resides in Irepodun street, Oja Oba in Abule Egba. The duo face charges bordering on conspiracy, receiving stolen property and stealing. The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Oke, told the court that the offences were committed on August 5 at 13 Joel Ogunaike Street, Ikeja. Oke said a staff member, who loaded money inside the ATM, forgot to lock the door. A 39-year-old cleaner identified as Sunday Julius has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his four daughters. Julius was arraigned for defiling his four daughters aged 16 years, 11 years, 10 years and seven years from August 2020 to July 2021 at his residence in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos state. Police prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi said the defendant was taken into police custody after his wife lodged a complaint at a police station. Ruling on the case, Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A.Ajibade did not take Julius' plea and remanded him in prison pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
