The Nigerian Army has said that most of the businesses looted or destroyed in Lekki, Ajah, Sangotedo and nearby places were owned by people of Igbo extraction. Brigadier-General Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo stated this in his testimony at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters. The Army is testifying following its invitation by the panel in the wake of the October 20 shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate. The Army has denied accusations that it shot and killed unarmed protesters.

St. Edwards hospital in Ajah area of Lagos state has called on its visitors to undergo self-isolation for a period of 14 days. Metro Health, one of the state’s health maintenance organisations (HMOs), disclosed that the hospital had been attending to a COVID-19 patient unknowingly. The patient, with cardiac symptoms, was said to have been admitted to the hospital on April 11, without providing information about previous contact with a COVID-19 case. One person was killed and many were injured as hoodlums engaged one another in a fight that lasted more than an hour on Wednesday in the Badore area of Ajah in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos. 7 yahoo boys arrested in Lagos

EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, has arrested seven suspected Internet fraudsters for offences bordering on conspiracy, possession of fraudulent documents, attempt to obtain money under false pretences and obtaining money under false pretences. The suspects: Abdulsalam Toheeb, Salam Sikiru, Abdusalam Rasaq, Azeez Oladimeji, Eniola Mogaji, Alabi Ridwan and Asoroti Oluwaseun were arrested at the Eleganza Estate and Paradise Estate along Lekki/ Ajah. Items recovered from the suspected Internet fraudsters at the point of arrest include: two cars (Honda Crosstour and Toyota Camry) seven laptops and six phones. The suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Unemployed Men Sentenced To 9 Months In Prison For Spending Fake Currency At Nightclub In Lagos

Two unemployed men, nabbed at a Lagos nightclub for spending fake Naira notes, are to spend nine months in prison. An Epe Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State, on Thursday, handed down the sentence to the duo, Chika Nwabusi and Henry Nse, after they pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of counterfeit Naira notes. Nwabusi and Nse, both 26 years old, and who reside at Thomas Esuaye Street in Ajah, Lagos, had, in admitting the offence, waived their rights to legal representation, but pleaded for mercy. The Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) has announced an upward review of toll fees at Lekki toll gate and Ikoyi link bridge, which it said takes effect from February 1, 2018. The LCC said the toll fare increase is as a result of current economic and business realities that have adversely increased the cost of operations and maintenance of the company’s loan obligations.
