Looting, Deaths As Lagos’ Notorious Gangs Clash Over Assault On Kingpin’s Lover

Two rival gangs from Alakuko area of Lagos and Dalemo, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states, held the neighbourhoods to ransom for days last week, unleashing terror without let or hindrance. From last Friday night to Monday afternoon, the warring hoodlums took charge of the communities, killing one another, vandalising shops along their ‘battle ground’ on Alakuko-Agbado Road and stealing goods. Six persons were reportedly feared dead while others sustained varying degrees of injury before a combined team of police and the military were able to restore normalcy. Amid the chaotic scenario and its attendant losses, no one could pinpoint the immediate cause of the mayhem. Leader of the dreaded cult group in Lagos, Awawa Boys, Tobi Akinbayo aka Scorpion Was arrested on Friday and paraded at Officers Mess, GRA Ikeja on Monday, September 23. The group strongholds are Agege, Dopemu, Elere, Ijaye-Ojokoro, Alakuko, Pen-Cinema, Abattoir, Iju and Oko-Oba. A cleric, popularly called Alfa Kayode Abdulfatai, was, yesterday, arrested with a vagina, a heart, laps and kidney in Moshood Gbadabiu area of Alakuko, Lagos. The human parts were kept inside a yellow plastic container in the suspect’s one-room self-contained apartment on Okeidumola Street. Suspected Quacks Who Performed Surgery On Woman Docked

Two suspected quacks – Adetoun Oyebade, a nurse, and Moses Dada, a health assistant – who allegedly performed a surgery on a woman, who complained of stomach pains, were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. The accused – Oyebade, 43, a resident of Fajumo Street, Alakuko, a Lagos suburb, and Dada, 41, who lives in Ifo, Ogun – are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, operating unregistered clinic, impersonation and performing illegal surgery. The police prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 10 at 12B, Fajumo St., Alakuko, Lagos. The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Thursday warned residents under its network to stay away from falling electric poles and equipment as the rainy season begins. Mr Godwin Idemudia, the General Manager, Corporate Communications Unit of the company, gave the warning in an interview in Lagos. According to him, cases of fallen poles and cables are rampant during the rainy season and residents need to caution their children and wards against touching any electricity cables.
