Bandits kill 4 vigilantes in Kaduna

Four vigilantes were reportedly killed by armed bandits in Rafin Tukurwa village, close to Dogon Dawa in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday afternoon, May 11. Daily Trust reported that the vigilantes were ambushed by 2pm while on their way to Rafin Tukurwa after receiving a distress call from the villagers that bandits had attacked the area to rustle cows. Ibrahim Hassan, a resident of the community told the publication that the bandits killed Aliyu Ibrahim, the very popular secretary of the vigilante group in Dogon Dawa while others were Bara’u Khalid, Alhaji Bukar and Malam Dauda died in the hospital from gunshot injuries. Six killed in Yola robbery attack

Six people have reportedly died following an armed robbery attack on motorists along Ngurore-Yola road in Yola-South Local Government Area of Adamawa State. DAILY POST gathered on Saturday that the robbers blocked the road from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, gunned down a commercial taxi driver, one Ababakar Ibrahim, whose car somersaulted into a ditch, killing all the five passengers on board. Residents and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area barricaded the road, which links Numan, the council headquarters of the Numan LGA, to the state capital, Yola. Kaduna Polytechnic Lecturers Suspend 7-Week Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter has suspended its seven weeks old strike. Students of the institution were writing their second semester examination when their lecturers decided to down tool. ASUP chairman for the Polytechnic, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim, who confirmed this in his office, on Tuesday said, the suspension followed the resolution of the emergency congress of 17th October, 2017. According to him, “Following the resolution of the emergency congress of 17th October, 2017, the seven weeks old strike has been suspended. “Therefore, members are called upon to immediately resume their normal academic activities”.
