Man Utd vs Brentford: Solskjaer fails to win another pre-season friendly after new deal

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford in a pre-season friendly played on Wednesday night. The Red Devils lost 4-2 to Queens ParRangers in their last warm-up game. It was the first game Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was taking charge of since he signed a new contract. Against the newly-promoted Premier League side Brenford, United took a 12th-minute lead through Anthony Elanga. Shandon Baptiste made it 1-1 eight minutes later. Five minutes into the second half, Andreas Pereira put Solksjaer’s men in front again. But Brentford levelled in the 78th minute through Bryan Mbeumo. United will play Preston North End next in another friendly on June 31.

Manchester United have become the first team since Arsenal’s Invincibles to finish a Premier League campaign unbeaten away from home. Juan Mata scored the winner from the penalty spot after VAR spotted a foul on Donny van de Beek. Arsenal is the only club in the Premier League era, that have finished the season without losing on the road. The Gunners achieved the feat in 2001/2002 and in their 2003/04 Invincibles campaign. United finished the current campaign in second place, 12 points behind champions Manchester City.

Solskjaer adds Anthony Elanga to Man United’s Squad to Face Granada

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has added forward, Anthony Elanga, to his side’s squad to face Granada in the Europa League quarter-final, first-leg tie in Spain on Thursday night. Man United disclosed this in a statement on the club’s official website on Tuesday. The Red Devils head to the game following a 2-1 win over Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
