Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has assented to the bills for the financial autonomy of the judiciary and the legislature in the state. Akeredolu, who assented to the bill on Tuesday also signed into law the bill for the establishment of the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission. Methodist Church Nigeria cuts ties with its British counterpart over their support for gay marriage

The Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) today July 2 announced it had severed all ties with its British counterpart over the latter’s approval of same-sex marriage. The church's decision was disclosed in a statement released by its Director, Media and Public Relations, Rev. Oladapo Daramola, in Lagos. Daramola said that the Church expressed its displeasure over the decision of the British Church in favor of same-sex marriage. JUSUN Suspends Strike

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has resolved to call off its over two-month strike, effective from Monday June 14. The decision was taken at the group's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which just ended in Abuja. It is however coming after the National Judicial Council (NJC), in a meeting with JUSUN leaders and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad on Tuesday June 8, appealed to the striking court workers to put an end to the industrial action in the interest of the country and the suffering court users. JUSUN which is demanding for judicial autonomy among other things, said they will resume the strike after two or three months if Governors fail to do the needful.
