La Liga: Messi Scores as Barca, Levante Draw

Lionel Messi scored a brilliant volley but Barcelona’s title hopes could be over, with a 3-3 draw away at Levante on Tuesday giving Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid the chance to pull away at the top of La Liga. Another slip could prove decisive given Atletico will move four points clear of Barca with two games left if they can win away at Real Sociedad on Wednesday. Real Madrid will edge two points ahead of Ronald Koeman’s side if they win away on Thursday at Granada. There are certainly no guarantees in what has been a frenetic and thrilling title race in recent weeks, with all of Spain’s four contenders stumbling down the final stretch. But with only two games left now and potentially two teams to catch, Barcelona’s chances of taking the title off Real Madrid this season wou...

Barca, Atletico Stalemate Hands Real La Liga Title Advantage

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid played out a tense goalless draw at the Camp Nou that suits neither side, handing the advantage to Real Madrid in an engrossing La Liga title race. With very little to separate the two sides, Atletico came closest to finding the net during the opening period as Luis Suarez - on his return to his former club - was denied from close range. Ousmane Dembele missed a glorious chance when he headed wide at the far post as Barcelona took control of the second period before Lionel Messi's free-kick veered inches wide. The result means Atletico remain in top spot on 77 points, with Barcelona leapfrogging Real Madrid into second place on 75 points. LaLiga: Depleted Real Madrid stumble in title race

A heavily depleted Real Madrid side were held to a 0-0 draw at Getafe on Sunday. The result saw Zinedine Zidane’s men fall three points behind leaders Atletico Madrid. Real defeated Barcelona 2-1 last week and saw off Liverpool in midweek to reach the Champions League semi-finals. However, they were without nine players due to either injury, suspension or COVID-19 positives. Mariano had an early goal chalked off for offside after a VAR review, but Getafe had far more and far better chances. The draw interrupted a run of four straight league victories for Real Madrid. Los Blancos now sit in second place with 67 points after 31 games, three behind leaders Atletico who thrashed Eibar 5-0 earlier in the day.

EPL Told to Deduct Points From Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea over Super League Plans

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has urged the Premier League to punish the ‘big six’ clubs who are planning to join a breakaway European Super League. According to him, all the teams involved should be docked points. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are all believed to have signed up to the new breakaway league. The other clubs include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan. “In the wake of Covid, it’s an absolute scandal,” Neville said on Sky Sports. “Manchester United and the rest of the big six clubs who have signed up for it should be ashamed of themselves. “The European Super League – are Arsenal in that?
