Undergraduate Shoots Bayelsa University Student Dead During Lecture

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 300-level Accounting undergraduate of the Niger Delta University, African Innocent, for allegedly shooting to death of a fellow student of the institution, James Okunmakpeye, at a lecture hall on Wednesday. It was gathered that the victim was shot in the head at close range and died on the spot. He was said to be standing by the door of the lecture room in the Faculty of Management Sciences in the state-owned institution on Wilberforce Island when the assailant attacked him. THE Bayelsa State Government has announced that 24 persons have died as a result of cholera outbreak in the state. It was gathered on Saturday that about 200 cases of the epidemic were recorded in 30 communities with the coastal Southern Ijaw Local Government Area being the worst-hit. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Pabara Newton-Igwele, while confirming the incident, said the state government had mobilised its Rapid Response Team to mitigate the spread of the cholera disease. An unnamed doctor has tested positive for Coronavirus in Bayelsa state. Governor Duoye Diri made the announcement during a meeting with members of Bayelsa state COVID-19 Task Force. The doctor who works at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa was admitted at a private hospital before testing positive for the virus. The health official's travel history also showed that he entered the state after a trip to neighbouring Delta State. The private hospital he was admitted in has been shut down for decontamination. Indications emerged on Tuesday that states prone to electoral violence and malpractices are going to be flooded with security personnel during the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections slated for March 9. This much was gathered after President Muhammadu Buhari met with all the service chiefs, including the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali. A father of three has been arrested after he poisoned his children with Sniper in Bayelsa State, killing two while the third one survived. The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Aminu Saleh confirmed the incident to newsmen. The surviving son told newsmen that their father and his brother gave them the sniper to drink. “Our father and his brother tied three of us and gave us sniper to drink. “I was told that my brothers are dead, and that I am the only one that survived,” the boy said in tears on his hospital bed. A grieving man was, today, stopped from entering the grave of his bosom friend, Comrade Godgift, during his burial in Bayelsa. The funeral held at the Yenagoa Cemetery, Azikoro, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The deceased was recently killed by yet to be identified gunmen. Youth Corper Dies On His Way For Final Clearance Two Days Before Passing Out (Photos)

A youth corper whose unfortunate death happened while on his way for a clearance has been buried amidst tears. A corps member has left his family, friends, and colleagues in lament after his tragic demise. The deceased identified as Ahangba Victor Adegwa reportedly died on his way for his final clearance, just two days to his passing out from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Until his death, he was a corper serving in Bayelsa state. He was laid to rest at his hometown in Anyiin town, Logo local government area of Benue state. Man brutally hacked by suspected cultists in Bayelsa

A young man was on Tuesday, brutally attacked by assailants suspected to be cultists in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state. It was gathered that rival gang members laid an ambush for him. They caught him and used machetes and other weapons to inflicts cuts all over his body before leaving him in the pool of his blood. He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Gunmen Assassinate Governor Dickson’s Aide

Unknown gunmen on Monday night, shot dead Okoringa Ebikimi, a Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson. It was learnt that the assailants broke into his residence at Kaiama, the Headquarters of Kolokuma/ Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, to commit the murder. The incident occurred few minutes to midnight while he was taking fresh air outside his residence. According to reports, attempt by the deceased to escape was unsuccessful as the gunmen shot him severally till he died.
