Broja strike earns Saints first PL win of the season

Armando Broja scored on his maiden Premier League start to earn Southampton a much-deserved first league win of the season, beating a below-par Leeds 1-0 at St Mary's. There was pressure on the Saints heading into Saturday's game, having drawn four and lost three of their opening seven league games of the season, while Leeds were looking to build on their first victory of the season against Watford before the international break. But Southampton dominated against a Leeds side who looked to be feeling the effects of Raphinha, Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips' absences. After having 12 shots in the first half, it looked to be the same story for Southampton, who have struggled to convert chances this term. But a superb break saw Chelsea loanee Broja slot home from Nathan Redmond...

Frank rates Chelsea’s chances of winning Champions League again this season

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Leboeuf, has warned Thomas Tuchel’s side that winning the UEFA Champions League again this season is ‘almost impossible’. Chelsea under Tuchel won the Champions League last season after beating Premier League champions, Manchester City, 1-0 in Porto, following Kai Havertz’s goal. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Brentford this weekend, Leboeuf told Ladbrokes, “Chelsea have been lucky enough to win the [UEFA] Champions League last season but it was kind of a miracle really. “[Thomas] Tuchel came in and changed some stuff and it worked and nobody expected Chelsea to win. “Right now an FA Cup would be nice for Chelsea and the Premier League or the Champions League would be absolutely fantastic. “The Champions League is the m...

Reacting, Lineker wrote on Twitter, “He [Ronaldo] ‘s been terrific, but @MoSalah should’ve won this….comfortably.” Ronaldo has so far scored three goals for Man United in the Pr...

After a ninth-place finish in the last campaign, Leeds had found themselves in the bottom three early on this time around. But it was a dominant performance from the hosts, who looked to be getting back to their best, and they deservedly went ahead through the returning Diego Llorente (18) Watford looked lethargic and made numerous errors throughout, even without two of their three substitutions being made due to injury.
