Czechs Dump Out 10-man Netherlands

The Czech Republic set up a quarter-final tie with Denmark as second-half goals from Tomas Holes and Patrik Schick dumped 10-man Netherlands out of Euro 2020 with a 2-0 win in Budapest. Following a goalless first half, Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt was sent off upon VAR review for a deliberate handball as the last man after tangling with Schick (55). The Czechs made their numerical advantage count when the excellent Holes converted at the far post (68), and the contest was put to bed when Schick tucked in Holes' cross to notch his fourth goal of the tournament (80). Having excelled in the group stages, it was a disappointing end for Frank de Boer's side, but Czech Republic march on to face the emotional wall of Denmark in Baku next Saturday.

Euro 2020: France suffer major injury blow ahead of Portugal clash

France have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their Euro 2020 clash with Portugal on Wednesday. France forward, Ousmane Dembélé, limped off with an injury during France’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Hungary at Euro 2020 on Saturday in Budapest. The Les Bleus were left stunned by Hungary and was forced to settle for a draw after Antione Griezmann cancelled out Atilla Fiola’s first-half goal. But, the draw wasn’t the only blow for the World champions, who lost Dembélé to injury despite the Barcelona star only coming on as a substitute. Dembélé came off the bench in the 57th minute during the encounter, replacing Adrien Rabiot as Didier Deschamps’s men searched for an equaliser at the time. But the 24-year-old had to be brought off with three minutes to go for Atletico Madrid...

The Nigeria international was on the scoresheet in Budapest in 2019, but her goal was a late consolation for the Catalan side. In the two years since, though, Barcelona have only gone from strength to strength and, after being huge underdogs against Lyon, find themselves in a very strong position this time around.

Irish PM Calls UEFA ‘Out of Order’ Over Euro 2020 Stance

Ireland’s Prime Minister Micheal Martin said Sunday UEFA was “out of order” over its insistence fans must attend Euro 2020 matches, which led it to drop Dublin as a host city. The move followed Irish football chiefs and the Basque government saying they were unable to give assurances on minimum spectator levels. The four matches once destined for Dublin three group games and a last-16 tie will now be held in St Petersburg and London, while Seville has stepped in to replace Bilbao. “I thought UEFA were out of order, quite frankly, putting that condition on countries,” Martin told Irish public broadcaster RTE. “To force spect...

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has defended the decision to allow fans to attend Thursday’s Super Cup match between Bayern Munich and Sevilla in Budapest, despite concerns about the Hungarian capital being a coronavirus hotspot. A limited crowd will be allowed into the 67,000-capacity Puskas Arena for the meeting of the Champions League winners and Europa League holders, although several hundred Bayern fans reportedly handed back their tickets because of safety fears. “We will have 16,000 spectators in the stadium, not even 30 percent,” of capacity, Ceferin said at a press conference following a UEFA executive committee meeting in Budapest on Thursday. “The measures are strict and there is not a question of health risks for the fans. “The easiest thing for us would be no...

Schwarzenegger Reveals His Terminator 6 Character

With director Tim Miller’s “Terminator” reboot expected to go before the cameras first quarter next year (in Budapest and Hungary), expect to hear quite a bit about the movie – being produced by series creator James Cameron- leading up to that looming kick-off date. While we’ve learned already that the film will ignore the events of every “Terminator” movie besides the original two Cameron-directed films, star Arnold Schwarzenegger has expanded on that in a new interview. The actor suggests he’ll be reprising his T-800 role from the original films (as opposed to another character – like the chap who lent his likeness to the Cyborg) in a scenario that’ll simplify the mythology. “I think Cameron and Tim came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new m...

"While we make grand plans about the future of Europe the Schengen system (of border-free movement within the EU) is crumbling away in our hands," he told state radio. "We have free movement of labor and we (some EU leaders) plan to restrict it."
