Man Heading to Plateau arrested with 260 bullets, magazines, others escape

An arms smuggler has been apprehended in Nasarawa State. The man identified as Likita was caught with 52 magazines and over 200 live ammunition. A joint team of the Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) apprehended him at Alushi junction in Akwanga. His colleagues are on their way on motorcycles to Jos, Likita reportedly disclosed. The suspect is being detained at Akwanga Police Divisional headquarters. The State Command will issue a statement. Insurance Didn’t Cover Lagos Buses Burnt During #EndSARS – Sanwo-Olu

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says state government cannot file for insurance claims on the mass transit buses burnt during the #EndSARS protests in 2020. He, however, said the government would replace the vehicles. According to him, the premium paid on the vehicles did not cover what eventually happened to them. Lagos State Government to Phase Out Yellow Commercial Buses Popularly Known as Danfo

The Lagos State Government says it plans to phase out yellow buses popularly known as Danfo in accordance with its transportation masterplan of the state. The state Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde, disclosed this when he spoke at a virtual forum on Thursday, February 4. Lagos Assembly Probes Ambode Over Purchase Of 820 Buses At The Cost Of ₦45bn

The Lagos State House Assembly has set up a committee to investigate the purchase of 820 buses by the administration of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. The lawmakers said the governor did not get the approval to buy 820 of the 5,000 buses he proposed for mass transit in the state. In a motion titled, ‘Lagos State House of Assembly Motion Number 2,’ the lawmaker representing Eti Osa Constituency 2, Gbolahan Yishawu, said the executive proposed to spend ₦17bn to purchase the buses in the 2017 budget, but it was not approved. He added that in the 2018 and 2019 budgets, the state government proposed ₦24bn and ₦7bn respectively for the buses, which were again turned down. FG Distributes 4,116 Buses Valued N37bn Nationwide

A total of 4,116 buses valued N37 billion have been delivered to beneficiaries nationwide under the Federal Government’s Public Mass Transit Revolving Fund (PMTF) Scheme. The Managing Director of The Infrastructure Bank, Mr Adekunle Oyinloye, stated this in a paper he presented at a National Workshop for Chief Executive Officers of Mass Transit Companies in Abuja. Oyinloye said the buses were released to mass transit companies to provide cheap and affordable road transport services to Nigerians across the six geo-political zones and the FCT.
