The People’s Court of the southwestern province of Tay Ninh, Vietnam on Tuesday, April 13, sentenced a 25-year-old Nigerian man to death for illegally transporting narcotic substances into the country from Cambodia. Nigerian Man, Ekwegbalu James Sentenced To Death In Vietnam For Drug Trafficking

A court in the southern Tay Ninh Province of Vietnam on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old Nigerian, Ekwegbalu James Nzube, to death for drug trafficking. Nzube, who was accused of trafficking nearly four kilogrammes of methamphetamine from Cambodia said he got acquainted with another Nigerian, Jone, in China in 2014, and the latter had hired him to transport drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam. In March 2020, he came to Ho Chi Minh City before going to Cambodia to fetch the drugs for which he was paid $2,000 (about N800, 000). Sixty-one dogs have been saved from being turned into dog meat after they were found in six tiny metal cages on their way to a slaughterhouse in Cambodia. The dogs, packed on top of each other in crowded cages, were being taken to be slaughtered in Kampong Cham, southeastern Cambodia on Sunday, February, 21. According to international animal welfare charity Four Paws, the minivan transporting the dogs was intercepted leaving nearby Siem Reap by the Provincial Department of Agriculture in collaboration with local police. A British teacher has been arrested in Cambodia after he was accused of sexually assaulting two teenage sisters. Matthew William Watkin, 37, from Shrewsbury, had been teaching English to children in Siem Reap province for several months before his arrest on Wednesday, May 20. The mother of the two girls, aged 13 and 17, reported to the police on Monday that the English teacher had abused her daughters.
