Reverend Samson Ayokunle Asks DSS To Go After Pantami

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, has urged relevant security agencies to investigate the allegation against the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami. Pantami has been in the eyes of the storm for about a week over his controversial Islamic teachings which reportedly lent credence to terrorism activities and killings – a stance which has forced a cross-section of Nigerians to demand for his resignation or sack. The minister admitted making such comments but blamed immaturity and limited knowledge for his views back then. But speaking during a press conference on the 108th convention of the church which will hold from April 24 to April 29 at the 37,000- seater auditorium Baptist International Confere...

Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has unwittingly exposed itself as promoter of bad governance, divisiveness and injustice under Buhari – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria has fired back at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) over its comment about the hijab crisis in Kwara state and appointment of Appeal Court Justices. The Sultan of Sokoto-led council which slammed CAN for opposing the nomination of 13 Northerners/ Muslims out of the 20 jurists listed as Court of Appeal Justices, had also accused the Christian group of beating a war drum over the introduction of hijab in mission schools in Ilorin, Kwara State. However reacting to this, CAN alleged that the NSCIA has unwittingly exposed itself as a promoter of bad governance, divisiveness and injustice in Nigeria under the Buhari administration. The Christian group which also accused the NSCIA of being evasive on the big issue of the Cou...

The CAN also described the current administration as being religiously biased. The President of the association, Samson Ayokunle, said this in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital while speaking at the Holy Convocation organised by the Victory Life Bible Church. NSCIA Criticizes CAN, Provides List Of Justices And Their Religions

The attention of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has been drawn to the insinuations and vituperations that trailed the shortlisting of 20 Justices-designate by the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC). It would be noted that except it is compelled to do so, the Council has often resisted joining issues with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as a matter of principle. This is because CAN has proved, times without number, its morbid hatred for Islam and Muslims, its remarkable capacity for destructive mischief, its dexterous use of scurrilous propaganda and its predilection for always being economical with the truth as part of the sinister strategy of heating up the polity anytime a Muslim is at the helm of affairs. It would be recalled that n...

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Kwara State government to rename schools whose authorities ‘have refused to obey court pronouncements’ and government’s directives on the use of hijab in schools. The MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, gave the advice on Saturday in a statement. “The (Kwara) state government must rename those controversial schools. They may be given names derived from the areas in which they are located. We like to suggest that, by extension, all schools in Kwara State which are still bearing missionary names, whether Christian or Muslim, should be renamed in as much as funding and the teachers’ salaries are still being paid by the state government. “It is obvious that the Kwara State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is de...

Violence erupted at the Baptist Secondary School, Surulere, Ilorin, Kwara capital, on Wednesday, over the refusal of the school authorities to allow female Muslim students to use hijab.
