Internet Fraudster Jailed For $140k Love Scam

Internet fraudster, Onovo Osita Malachy has been jailed for a $140k love scam, after the EFCC secured his conviction at a Federal High Court in Edo State. The convict was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence. He was said to have fraudulently obtained the sum of $140,000 from a foreigner through a love scam. Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded “guilty” to the charge. The charge reads: “That you Onovo Osita Malachy on or about 4th day of July 2017 in Benin Edo State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did by means of fraudulent trick to wit: love scam on a dating site obtained the sum of $140,000 only from Helen Wang and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 421 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C38 Laws of the Federatio...

Aaron Ramsey will not travel to Dublin for Wales' clash with the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday. The Arsenal midfielder, who earned his 56th cap in the loss to Spain last week, has withdrawn due to family reasons. His situation was mentioned by manager Ryan Giggs' prior to the Spain game. Five Welders Granted N500,000 Bail Each Over Alleged N15m Fraud

Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele of a Benin High Court on Monday granted N500,000 bail each to five members of Edo Welders Association, docked over alleged N15 million fraud. The defendants, all former executive members of the association are: Isaac Ogundumi, Monday Ewemade, John Odalo, Andrew Egharewan and Omorogbe Jacob. Ovbiagele also ordered the defendants to produce a surety each in like sum. The judge ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, reside within Benin metropolis and must deposed to an affidavit of means as part of the bail condition. Ovbiagele adjourned the case until October 27 for hearing. The defendants are facing alleged N15 million fraud charge. Court Sentences Student Of Lead City University, Ibadan, To Death By Hanging

A 200 level student of Lead City University, Ibadan, Moshood Owolabi, has been sentenced to death by hanging for stabbing his fellow student to death. In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte of an Ibadan High Court condemned Owolabi to death by hanging for causing the death of one Seun Kolawole, two years ago. A Physical and Health Education Department student, Owolabi caused the death of Kolawole by stabbing him with a bottle. The judge said the counsel prosecuting the case, A. Olawale, a Deputy Director in the Oyo State Ministry of Justice had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
