More Than 400 Inmates Flee From Haiti Prison Leaving 25 People Including Prison Director Dead

More than 400 prisoners have escaped from the Croix-des-Bouquets prison in Haiti leaving 25 people including the prison director dead. The escape which happened from a jail near the capital, Port-au-Prince on Friday February 26, lead to the death of bystanders who were caught up in the violence. One of those who fled, a notorious gang leader named as Arnel Joseph, was killed hours after escaping. Four Policemen Shot Dead by Suspected Kidnappers at Checkpoint in Calabar

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot and killed four policemen at a checkpoint in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Thursday, February 25. It was gathered that the gunmen ambushed the unsuspecting policemen at Ayanmbat community near Idundu in the Aka Efa area of Calabar. The policemen whose identities have not been disclosed were said to have been killed when they went to confront some suspected kidnappers. Meanwhile, the Police is said to be on the trail of the kidnappers.

Anambra CP, Kuryas Visits Checkpoint Attacked By Hoodlums

The new Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas, has visited two spots in Mkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area and Omogho in Orumba North, where gunmen attacked police patrol teams this morning. According to eye witnesses, the gunmen who drove in both a salon car and a Mercedes Benz 4Matic SUV, opened fire on the policemen who had been deployed on patrol in the two areas. The attackers also set a police patrol van on fire. There was no immediate motive for the attacks or the number of casualties involved as at the time of this report, but the Anambra State Police Commissioner has assured that the hoodlums would soon be captured.

A military base and a police check-point in Borno State were reportedly attacked by Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday January 31, same day the newly appointed service chiefs arrived Maiduguri on an operational visit.
