Politics 2023: I’ll cease to be Nigerian if Tinubu becomes president – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has said he will cease to be a Nigerian should national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, become president come 2023. Tinubu has neither confirmed or denied the growing speculation that he is planning to run in the 2023 presidential election as the flag bearer of the ruling APC. But appearing on Arise TV programme on Friday, George, an elder statesman, wondered why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to open an investigation into the financial activities of Tinubu during his time as Governor of Lagos state. He also wants the financial crimes commission to look into Tinubu’s alleged involvement with Alpha Beta Consulting, a tax firm. “If, by whatever yardst...

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George has faulted military approach to counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast, noting that only dialogue can end the insurgency by Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWA). George, a former military governor of Ondo State, has also lamented the kind of carnage taking place in the north due to the activities of banditry, insurgency and kidnapping, describing it as a national malady that requires a result-oriented approach. He has equally described the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari as the war against some perceived enemies, faulting the president for failing to investigating the case of two bullions vans driven in the Ikoyi residence of the National ...

Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded election, Jimi Agbaje, has asked a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Bode George, to shut up and act as an elder. The Director of Media and Publicity, Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation, Felix Oboagwina, in a statement on Wednesday, said Agbaje described his purported defection as misinformation that should be discountenanced, adding that he had never been a member of the APC and talks of his “returning” to the ruling party had never crossed his mind. “Jimi Agbaje Is A Cancer In Lagos PDP- Chief Layi Ogunbambi

The crisis in the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over fallout of the last general elections got messy on Wednesday with one of the major gladiators revealing sordid details of how campaign funds from Abuja were allegedly cornered by the governorship candidate of the party, Mr Jimi Agbaje. Reacting to allegations of sabotage leveled against him by Agbaje during a postmortem meeting on outcome of the elections, Director General of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council in Lagos State, Chief Layi Ogunbambi said it was unfortunate that the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state could degenerate to such lowest ebb of fabricating vicious lies just to cover up his inadequacies and greed. Ogunbambi said right from when he was appointed as DG of Atiku ca...

Buhari, Saraki And My Fears

Last Saturday , a friend Olukayode, an International Human Rights Law graduate of the University of Notre Dame, engaged me in an interesting  conversation,  sometimes, going on without waiting for appropriate responses: “It’s dangerous for the SP [Senate President] to accept to work with President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB), again,” he began. ” I assure you it is very dangerous. Buhari and Bukola Saraki I tell you they will accept all conditions just to have SP. He should not, please”, he stressed, as if I had any influence over Saraki and could change his mind. “Remember OBJ also begged and even prostrated for Atiku. The rest is now history,” Olukayode  recalled.  At this point, I interrupted to let him know I was still online. “God will show him the way. Let’s keep praying for him.” ...

Wike and Secondus visited George at his Maitama home, Abuja, to seek his cooperation following the rancour that followed the national convention of the party. George, who was one of the chairmanship aspirants, had stepped down less than 24 hours to the convention, describing the event as a charade. He had also lambasted the Rivers State governor for saying the people of the South-West did not deserve to produce the chairman of the party. Secondus told George that he would work with everyone and nobody would feel marginalised in the party. Confirming the meeting with George ...

We need to bring the party to the people now.” He spoke in Abuja when former Minister of Education Prof. Tunde Adeniran announced his plan to run for PDP national chairman. Southwest PDP Excos’ Dissolution Illegal – Kashamu

The lawmaker representing Ogun West in the Senate, Buruji Kashamu, has said the dissolution of the Peoples Democratic Party executive council in the South-West by the party’s National Executive Council cannot stand. Kashamu, who described the dissolution as illegal and a travesty of justice, specifically argued that the ‘purportedly dissolved’ Adebayo Dayo-led PDP executive council in Ogun State would remain in office till 2020. His position was contained in a statement he issued on Monday. According to him, the PDP NEC, in dissolving the South-West executive councils, shunned an August 11 order of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which restrained the disruption of the executive councils. He noted that the court had restrained “the 2nd defendant from operating in the South-West...
