Army chief, Yahaya visits NDA after bandits’ attack, Major Datong still missing

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Wednesday, visited the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) over the recent security breach. DAILY POST recalls that on August 24, bandits attacked the residential area of the NDA campus in Afaka. Two officers were murdered, one kidnapped and another injured. Yahaya got a firsthand brief on the incident and commiserated with the commandant, Maj Gen IM Yusuf and the Academy. The Accident Investigation Bureau has announced that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the crashed Beechcraft 350 aircraft that led to the deaths of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers, have been recovered. The bodies of the deceased military officers were conveyed from Kaduna state to Abuja this morning and will be buried at the Military cemetery. Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru and other officers to be buried today

The remains of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, and six other senior officers, who perished in the ill-fated military aircraft that crashed in Kaduna state on Friday, May 21, will be buried today, May 22. The burial proceedings, according to a statement signed by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, will commence at the National Mosque and National Christian, Abuja at 10am. The interment of the late COAS and the other six officers will take place at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja at 1pm.

Armored Carriers Bought By Buratai From $1billion Fund Were Stolen By Boko Haram

No fewer than 15 Armoured Personnel Carriers and tanks purchased for the Nigerian Army in 2020 under the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd.), from the $1 billion fund approved by the Nigerian government were lost to the Boko Haram terrorists within the same year they were bought. Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has alleged that Nigerians are unappreciative of the efforts of the military to contain insurgency in the country.
