2023: OBJ, PDP leaders in closed door meeting

As the 2023 presidential election draws nearer, former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday, August 19, had a closed door meeting with the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, and other leaders of the party in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The PDP chairman and the other leaders of the party arrived at the penthouse of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta at about few minutes past noon. The visit comes after some leaders of the party called for the removal of Secondus as chairman. Obasanjo who was a founding member of the PDP, denounced his membership of the party in February 2015.

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has just arrived the Niger State Government House, Minna for a visit to the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello. Senator Kalu was ushered into Governor's office, where he was received by the Governor and his cabinet, Kalu and Bello later proceeded for an indoor meeting. Kalu arrived at the power state at exactly 11:30 am alongside the President of Belema Oil, Engr Jack Rich; The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA, Hon. Femi Bamisile, former Chief of Staff to Abia State Government,  Hon Mascot Uzor Kalu, other associates, and his aides. The meeting is still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

Following the reported rift between Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bola Tinubu is meeting with the duo at the country home of Chief Bisi Akande. The meeting, which Vanguard gathered was at the request of Chief Bisi Akande is still ongoing as at 3:05 pm behind closed doors. It was gathered that there is still deadlock between the Governor and his predecessor as non of the two his compromising their position. A source told Vanguard that if they were able to reach compromise, journalists may be brief otherwise there would not be any press briefing.

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, is currently in a closed-door meeting with wives of state governors and some security experts. The meeting was called to contribute the women’s quota to addressing the spate of kidnapping, banditry and other manifestations of insecurity in the country. Today, President Buhari met with nine State governors on the platform of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Osinbajo, Okorocha, Emir Sanusi Meeting Behind Closed-Door At Aso Villa

ABUJA – Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday met with Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Both of them met behind closed doors. When approached by the State House Correspondent to speak on his mission to the Villa, Sanusi however declined saying simply “you can just report that I came to the Villa.” It will be recalled that Sanusi had been very critical of President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies one of which was the decision to borrow $30 billion from external sources. He had also consistently spoken out on the illiteracy of Northern Nigeria, asking the stakeholders to convert mosques to schools. Also, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was seen leaving the office of the Acting President. He also didn’t speak with Reporters.
