Army chief, Yahaya visits NDA after bandits’ attack, Major Datong still missing

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Wednesday, visited the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) over the recent security breach. DAILY POST recalls that on August 24, bandits attacked the residential area of the NDA campus in Afaka. Two officers were murdered, one kidnapped and another injured. Yahaya got a firsthand brief on the incident and commiserated with the commandant, Maj Gen IM Yusuf and the Academy. Yusuf said Major Christopher Datong is still missing and confirmed that efforts to rescue him are ongoing. Nigeria, Turkey meet on counterterrorism

The Nigerian Army and its Turkish counterpart have pledged to strengthen military bilateral relations to tackle terrorism. Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Hidaye Bayraktar visited the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
