Okada Riders Burn FRSC Office in Minna

A group of commercial motorcycle, Okada riders, in Minna, Niger state on Friday razed down the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC office over the alleged death of one their members. According to a report by The Punch, the death of the rider was alleged to have been caused by the FRSC officials. It was learnt that the late motorcyclist rode against traffic along the GRA in the state and in a bid to arrest him, the FRSC officials on patrol opened their vehicle door to block his motorcycle. Eyewitnesses said the rider crashed the motorcycle in the process and hit his head on the pavement, leading to a serious injury. He was said to have been rushed to a hospital where he died. Opay, Max.ng May Go As Lagos Decides On Okada, Tricycle Operation

The Lagos State Government is expected to make a declaration today (Tuesday) on commercial motorcycle and tricycle operation in the state. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the state executive council, on Monday, discussed extensively on the “menace” of commercial motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles popularly known as Keke Marwa. Daily Trust reports that, in recent times, there has been a resurgence of Okada on the highways by operators of bike services, including Opay, Max.ng, Gokada, among others.
