FIFA Suspend Senegal star Pape Gueye from football as part of probe into midfielder’s transfer from Watford to Marseille

FIFA have reportedly suspended Marseille midfielder Pape Gueye as part of their investigation into his move to the Ligue 1 club from Watford in 2020. The suspension means that Gueye, who is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, cannot take part in any competition until further notice. The 22-year-old came off the bench for Senegal's 1-0 win over Zimbabwe on Monday but was not in the squad for their 0-0 draw against Guinea on Friday. 'There were problems between Watford and Marseille on a transfer [and] FIFA has suspended him,' Senegal manager Aliou Cisse said. Gueye joined the Hornets in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer from the French side Le Havre, but was sold to Marseille just 17 hours later. If the case goes ahead, the Queen’s second son will face a full trial before a jury in New York. Now, Maxwell victim Andriano has made the bombshell claim that Ms. Giuffre, then 17, texted her from London in March 2001 claiming to have had dinner and sex with the prince. In the new interview, Andriano made further claims Ms. Giuffre showed her the now-infamous photo of Prince Andrew with his arm around her in Maxwell’s central London apartment. ...

Facebook sued for £200billion over claims it fuelled genocide of Rohingya Muslims

Facebook is being sued for more than £200billion over claims it fuelled the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Lawyers have launched legal action on both sides of the Atlantic seeking 'reparation-style' compensation from the Silicon Valley tech firm on behalf of victims and survivors. Those behind the case said that Facebook had 'fanned the flames of hatred' by repeatedly ignoring warnings that the platform was being used to share hate speech in the country. The transatlantic coalition of lawyers, who are working with a number of charities, said that the legal action was needed to stop the company from 'running the world with impunity'. Estimates say as many as 25,000 Rohingya, described as 'the most discriminated people in the world', were killed and more than 800,000 ...

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss is said to be earning around £15million a year with Spurs and with no break clause, chairman Daniel Levy would have to stump up the remainder of his expected salary should he choose to let the manager go. However, Mourinho’s payout is dependent on Tottenham’s league position and if the club qualifies for Europe. Failure to reach the Champions League or Europa league would see his entitlement reduced in the event he was to lose his job....

Traders in Kano Lament as Onion bag Sold in the South for N35k Crashes to N7k in the North

Farmers and traders in Kano are lamenting as farm produce, which can't be sent to the South due to the ongoing strike by sellers of cows and food stuff, are now being sold in the North at ridiculously low prices. In video shared by Daily Trust, the farmers and marketers at the Gun-Dutse onion market, Dawakin Kudu Local government Area of Kano State, are seen lamenting the effect of the ongoing strike by the sellers of cows and foodstuff. Recall that trucks bringing food stuff to the Southern part of Nigeria were turned back at Kara Jebba, the last village between Niger state and Kwara state, to prevent them from bringing food to the South . This strike is connected to an ultimatum given by the national leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MAC...

Uber Drivers are Workers not Self-employed’ – UK Supreme Court

The UK's Supreme Court on Friday February 19, ruled that cab hailing app, Uber drivers are workers and not self-employed and must be treated as such. The landmark ruling means thousands of Uber drivers are set to be entitled to minimum wage and holiday pay forcing the company to pay a hefty compensation bill. Former Uber drivers, James Farrar and Yaseen Aslam, took the company to the supreme court over whether they should be classed as workers or self-employed. The drivers originally won an employment tribunal against the ride hailing app giant in October 2016, and on Friday told the BBC they were "thrilled and relieved" by the ruling. Uber had appealed to the Supreme Court after losing three earlier rounds and the company's share price fell 1% on Wall Street's after the ru...

British Supreme Court Rules that Niger Delta Communities Can Sue Shell in UK

The United Kingdom Supreme Court has ruled that polluted Nigerian communities can sue Royal Dutch Shell, a British-Dutch oil company in English courts for pollution. The decisions overturns a previous Appeal Court ruling and represents a victory after a five-year legal battle instituted by Ogale and Bille communities in Rivers state. While the communities with 42,500 farmers and fishermen stressed that they are suffering after the oil company polluted their environment including land, swamps, groundwater and waterways, Shell in its defence argued that it was only a holding company for a firm that should be judged under Nigerian law. The Royal Dutch Shell which also did not dispute that pollution had been caused, argued that it could not be held legally responsible for its Nige...

Chelsea to Continue Paying Frank Lampard Until End of Season

Former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, will continue to be paid by the club until the end of this season, SportsMail reports. The Blues have spent over £110million in pay-offs to sacked coaches during the Roman Abramovich era. However, they are now moving towards heavily incentivised, performance-related contracts, to minimise future compensation payments. So, the club’s decision to fire Lampard last week, will not significantly add to the £110m bill, because his three-year deal contained a break clause after two years. Therefore, they will only have to continue paying the 42-year-old until the end of this season. His replacement, Thomas Tuchel, has been given an 18-month contract.

Roman Abramovich Has Dished Out £112.5M In Compensation To Sacked Chelsea Bosses

Frank Lampard was railroaded as surely as the trains which still rumble along the old tracks behind the main stand at Stamford Bridge. The German era was already dawning on Chelsea. At another hefty price. Roman Abramovich does not sack managers with quite the frequency of that rusty stretch of the London Overground but the costs of keeping his unwanted livestock rolling out has to be just as expensive. Even though the King's Road's favourite son goes for a bargain handshake. Because the club had not yet triggered his new contract extension beyond the remaining six months of his old deal, Lampard collects £2million compensation rather than a projected £6million. Oh, well. Only Rafa Benitez and Guus Hiddink, who were out of contract and cost Roman sweet nothing, went chea...
