The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N1.23 billion for the construction of a faculty of health services at the Plateau State University, Bokkos and the procurement of computers and printers for zonal and area commands of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced this on Wednesday while briefing State House reporters on the outcome of the second virtual cabinet meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari. FEC Approves N623m For Customs To Buy Computers

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N623.7 million for the Nigeria Customs Service to buy computers for its zonal and area commands. The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, gave the information at the end of the virtual FEC meeting on Wednesday. “The Minister of Finance presented a memo for the award of contract for 1,200 units of coloured printers and desktop computers for human resources and accounting management systems across zones and area commands of the Nigeria Customs Service, which was approved. “The sum of the contract was N623,700,000 for the 1, 200 desktops and computers for the use of the Customs Service all over the country,” Mohammed told reporters.

Chioma Uchendu, a consultant ophthalmologist with the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, has advised regular break from smartphones and other devices like computer and television screens to avoid damage to the eyesight. Uchendu, who gave the advice in an interview with NAN in Umuahia on Friday, said that over-exposure to such devices could cause dry and allergic eyes. EFCC Arrests Eleven Internet Fraudsters In Lagos

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, have arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters for offences bordering on conspiracy, possession of fraudulent documents and attempt to obtain money under false pretence. The suspects are: Ganiyu Sherif Abiodun, Akinyele Sherif, Oluseye Soremekun, Kolawole Rasheed, Kolawole Kazeem and Ibrahim Anjorin. FRSC recruitment: JAMB Conducts Examination for 15,000 candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Saturday said it has conducted recruitment examination for about 15,000 candidates of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) across the country. The Registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this to newsmen during the conduct of the exercise in Abuja.
