35 Corps Members Test Positive for COVID-19 at Ogun NYSC camp

35 corps members have tested positive for COVID-19 at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Sagamu, Ogun State. Ogun Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker made the announcement on Thursday August 5. According to Coker, some of those who tested positive have been confined to the isolation centers, while others are on home management. The Commissioner also expressed concerns that Ogun has recorded a rise in cases since the beginning of August, with at least 7 to 16 cases per day. ‘We Will Use 8,000 Corps Members For Osun State Governorship Poll Next Month’ – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that more than 8,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Osun State will be deployed as ad hoc staff in the conduct of the September 22 governorship poll holding in the state.   According to the Resident Electoral Commissioners in the state, Olusegun Agbaje, “over 8,000 corps members are part of the expected 15,000 ad-hoc staff who are going to use for the conduct of the September governorship election. 37 Ogun Corpers Involved In Accident After Leaving NYSC Orientation Camp

About 37 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who just left the orientation camp in Ogun which ended today - were involved in motor accident on their way to Sango Otta area of the state. The lone accident involving a white Civilian Coaster Bus occurred as a result of over speeding as the driver lost control of the vehicle before the crash. No one was killed in the crash. 19 adults (9 males and 10 females) were injured out of a total 37 Youth Corps Members in the vehicle. On Monday, August 6, 2018, a twitter handle, APC Newspaper, which claims to be a social media mouthpiece for the ruling party, All Progressive Congress announced that President Muhammdu Buhari has raised NYSC allowance to N49,800. This writer, however, tweeted at NYSC to confirm the credibility of the APC Newspaper’s tweet about the allowance increase and @officialnysc replied saying it is a rumour. A female corps member posted to Bayelsa State for her NYSC, is now under intensive care as Doctors are battling to save her life following her ordeal in the hands of robbers.
