Nigeria missing as UK releases list of 50 countries it recognizes their COVID vaccine certificates

The United Kingdom (UK) has released a list of 50 countries it recognises their COVID19 vaccine certificates and Nigeria is conspicuously absent from the list. This means that fully vaccinated Nigerians travelling to the UK still need to self-isolate for 10 days. Nigeria wasn't added on the list despite not being on the UK’s COVID-19 red list. No other African country was on the list. The UK government had said Nigeria is on the ‘amber’ list, which has restrictions for travellers to the UK, irrespective of whether they have been vaccinated against COVID. NAFDAC Approves Emergency Use of Johnson & Johnson COVID19 vaccine

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has granted approval for the emergency use of Janssen (Johnson and Johnson) COVID19 vaccine for Nigerians from 18 years. Lagos State Government Releases list of 88 Centers where residents can take COVID19 AstraZeneca vaccine

The Lagos State Government has released a list of 88 centres where residents of the state can take the AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine. The 88 centres cut across all 20 Local Governments of the State. A statement released by the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has been declared safe by the World Health Organization (WHO). He however pointed out that most vaccines have some common side effects, which are not unique to the COVID19 vaccine and which typically only last for 24 to 48 hours. NAFDAC approves AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine for use in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control in Nigeria, NAFDAC, has approved the use of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine for use in Nigeria. At a press conference held this morning February 18, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, says the agency got the dossier of the vaccine a week ago, and the NAFDAC safety committee went to work immediately to evaluate its safety and efficacy for Nigerians.
