Liverpool’s second goal should have been cancelled – Conte

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte, has insisted that Liverpool’s second goal in their 2-2 draw on Sunday, should not have stood. Conte claimed members of his coaching staff saw Mo Salah handle the ball, before Andy Robertson headed the ball in to put the Reds ahead in the game. “My staff said to me the second [Liverpool] goal was a clear handball. Clear, a clear handball. “I think it’s not right to comment on refereeing decisions after the game. I don’t know if Jurgen wanted to comment on this, but I can tell you my staff said to me it was incredible to give the second goal and not to disallow it, because there was a clear handball from Salah. “But it was an exciting game with great emotions for the people who saw it and I don’t like that we have to speak about referee...

Permanent Secretary and Principal Registrar of Marriages, Ministry Of Interior, in a statement released on Tuesday evening, December 14, described the report as “false, misleading and a deliberate distortion of the decision of the Court in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/816/18 between Eti-Osa Local Government Council & 3 others”. The ministry said the trial judge held that nothing in the role of local governments, as defined in the Constitution, suggests that local governments can conduct or contract marriages as alleged in their pleadings. According to The Telegraph, Lingard’s continued omission from Man United’s squad is ‘a source of bemusement’ among his teammates, who clearly feel the England international is deserving of a bigger role at Old Trafford. Lingard, who thrived on loan at West Ham last season, has not featured regularly for Man United under Solskjaer so far this campaign. The 28-year-old did not feature in Man United’s last two matches against Manchester City and Atalanta. West Ham ended Liverpool’s 25-game unbeaten run over the weekend, following goals from Alisson Becker (own-goal), Pabio Fornals and Kurt Zouma as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Divock Origi’s goals were not enough to give Klopp’s side a point against the host. Bent believes Solskjaer is now too worried about the backlash to drop Ronaldo, even if his presence is detrimental to the team. “[Pep] Guardiola, [Thomas] Tuchel and [Jurgen] Klopp have earned the right to make big decisions. “That’s no disrespect to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but coming from Tuchel or Guardiola...

EPL: This has to Stop – Tuchel Blasts ‘Horrible’ VAR after Leicester Win

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has hit out at Video Assistant Referee (VAR), after several decisions went against them during their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday night. Timo Werner saw two goals ruled out and was denied a penalty when he appeared to be kicked by Youri Tielemans inside the box. Although goals from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho sealed the victory in front of fans at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was left frustrated by the decisions He said: “It’s a clear penalty. They [VAR] are horrible against us and it’s the third time in a row. “We have a goal against Arsenal denied with handball, we have a goal against Leicester in the cup with a hand and today, it is a penalty but the foul goes against us. “This has to stop of course but we were not worrie...

Premier League take Decision on ‘Armpit Offside’ VAR Secisions

Premier League clubs remain in favour of the “armpit offsides”, as they prepare to discuss their Video Assistant Referee (VAR) survey, the UK Mirror reports. One club is keen to push for “teams” of officials, as it would help if referees had a regular Video Assistant Referee partner, who they would work with every week. That may not be realistic as many referees are usually on a rota between roles. Also, there is not much that can be done on tight offside decisions, as law makers IFAB and FIFA do not favour giving any leeway or tolerance. Clubs have been asked for their opinions ahead of the Premier League AGM in Harrogate on June 10 on how to improve video technology. They are likely to discuss whether using the “drawing of the 3D lines” is necessary, as it at...

EPL Introduces new Laws to Put Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Others in Check

The Premier League has introduced new rules and regulations, which will prevent future attempts to join a breakaway Super League. Six top-flight teams, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, announced on April 18 they were joining a new continental competition called the European Super League. However, it all collapsed within 48 hours amid outrage and criticisms. In a bid to prevent another recurrence, the Premier League has now created new laws and a new owners’ charter that all club owners will be required to sign up to committing them to the core principles of the competition. A statement on Monday explained the league is enlisting the support of the Government to bring in “appropriate legislation” and w...

EPL: If you Keep Missing Chances, Chelsea will Dump you – Hargreaves warns Timo Werner

Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has warned Timo Werner that he would be dumped by Chelsea if he keeps missing glorious goal opportunities during important matches. Hargreaves warned that the Blues will go out and sign a top striker in the summer transfer window if the German fails to work on his confidence level. Werner’s strike against West Ham on Saturday was his second Premier League goal since November. And the goal took his tally of top-flight goals to just six in 31 appearances for Chelsea this season. Werner missed a gilt-edged opportunity to grab a second against West Ham when he scuffed a shot wide from yards out. And Hargreaves, a former Bayern Munich star, feels the final stages of the season will be vital for Werner. “He can ...

FA Cup: Guardiola Defends Man City’s team Selection after 1-0 Defeat to Chelsea

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has defended his team selection following a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. Following their 2-1 win at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, Guardiola rang the changes for the game against the Blues. The Spaniard made eight changes with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres starting at Wembley. Stand-in goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, was at fault for what turned out to be the decisive goal from Hakim Ziyech 10 minutes into the second period. Guardiola admitted that Chelsea deserved their victory, but refused to blame his selection. “When you have two-and-a-half days to recover and you have to play away and travel for longer than three hours, everyone deserves to play. “But don’t say we don’t p...

Mikel Arteta Gives Reasons for late substitutions during 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has insisted that he made his substitutions at the right time during his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague on Thursday night. This is despite coming under fire for his decisions that have now seen Arsenal’s Europa League chances hang in the balance. Arsenal conceded an injury-time equaliser with Tomas Holes header which cancelled out Nicolas Pepe’s opener. The Gunners are now in a dicey situation going into the second leg in Prague next Thursday. Arteta introduced Gabriel Martinelli in the 73rd minute and both Pepe, Mohamed Elneny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang five minutes later and many Arsenal supporters were disappointed by Arteta’s decision to wait for so long. Ian Wright had tweeted his frustration saying: “Take the chanc...

However, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller then equalized for Bayern before Mbappe netted again to give Pochottino’s men a first-leg advantage ahead of the return leg next week. “I am happy with the result and the attitude of the team, who found themselves in difficult situations against the best side in Europe,” Pochettino said at his post-match press conference after the game. “We ne...
