AFCON 2021: It’s sad for us – Ola Aina reflects on Sudan’s penalty in 3-1 win

Nigerian defender, Ola Aina, has said it was “sad” to see the team lose their clean sheet against Sudan. The Super Eagles were three goals up, when Aina gave away a penalty in the second half. Initially, the incident was not picked up by the referee, but it was later awarded following a VAR review. “Yea, we gave away the clean sheet. “It’s sad for the team, the defence, and it’s sad for Madu because he’s been keeping clean sheets,” Aina told the Super Eagles media team. Aina admitted he was at fault, but insisted he was looking at the ball and not the player. “What happened was I was not looking at the player. Obviously, I held his shirt a little bit, but there’s always a little bit of shirt holding in the box, and I was just watching the ball. “I didn’t see when I s...

Olori Naomi’s Sister Blasts Ogbolor after the actor appeared to shade the Queen over her Marriage Crisis

Simi Oluwaseyi, the sister to Queen Naomi, has slammed Nollywood actor Ogbolor for his post that she believes makes reference to her sister's marriage crisis. Queen Naomi Silekunola announced yesterday, Dec. 23, that her marriage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, is over after 3 years Prior to marrying the Ooni, Naomi who was a popular church prophetess at the time said God approved of her wedding. Now, with the announcement that the marriage is over, Ogbolor, in a post shared on his Instagram Stories, appeared to be mock the Olori by reminding the world that she said years ago that God approved of the marriage. Osasuna snatch draw against Barcelona with late stunner

Barcelona’s nightmare week ended in more disappointment on Sunday as they conceded in the 86th minute to draw 2-2 away at struggling Osasuna. After losing at home to Real Betis last weekend and being dumped into the Europa League by Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Barca could only muster a point against Osasuna, who sit 10th and are now winless in eight league matches. The deflation for Xavi Hernandez’s team will be heightened by the manner of Osasuna’s equaliser, coming so late in the game after two 19-year-olds, Nico Gonzalez and Abde Ezzalzouli, had set them on course for victory. Instead, Chimy Avila drove into the corner to secure a draw for Osasuna that was as dramatic as it was deserved. David Garcia had earlier levelled for them two minutes after Nico’s opener. “Our young...

Jorginho penalties punish Leeds in thriller

Jorginho scored two penalties – the second in injury-time – to nab Chelsea an important and dramatic 3-2 win over a spirited Leeds. The victory leaves Chelsea in third but just two points behind Manchester City at the top of the table After conceding six goals in their last two games, Chelsea's defence were breached again when Raphinha netted from the penalty spot on 28 minutes following a challenge on Dan James by Marcos Alonso Thomas Tuchel's side looked nervous as they staged a response, but Mason Mount scored what looked a crucial equaliser just before the break when turning home Alonso's cross. They were ahead on 58 minutes when Jorginho converted from the penalty after a VAR review had deemed Raphinha's challenge on Antonio Rudiger a foul that was originally missed by r...

Man United targets Rudiger amid other interests

Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger could be making a surprising move from Chelsea to bitter rivals, Manchester United, according to The Independent, UK. Man United have made their interest in signing the Chelsea centre-back known. The Germany international, whose contract ends in June, has established himself as a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s defence. But the 28-year-old could leave the club on a free transfer if he fails to agree on a new deal. Although his boss and compatriot, Tuchel is keen on the defender staying at the club, the defender has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. The Independent reports that Ralf Rangnick and Man United have registered their interest along with Tottenham. However, the report said the German may not want to remain in the...

Real reason Kurt Zouma left Chelsea for West Ham – Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has given the real reason Kurt Zouma left the Blues for West Ham United last summer transfer window. Zouma, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 under Jose Mourinho’s regime, hardly cements his place in the heart of Chelsea’s defence under a succession of managers. The centre-back spent time out on loan at the likes of Stoke City, Saint-Etienne and Everton in a bid to get his career back on track. Zouma had started to make significant progress under former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, but after he was sacked in January, the 26-year-old struggled to win the faith of Tuchel. The France international was left out of the team which won the Champions League at the end of last season. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with West H...

Thomas Tuchel blames Stamford Bridge’s floodlight for Jorginho’s error

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has blamed the Stamford Bridge floodlights for Jorginho’s error that gave Jadon Sancho his first Premier League goal for Manchester United on Sunday. Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at home by United with Jorginho scoring a penalty to make amends for his error. Jorginho found himself as the last line of defence when dealing with a high ball that’d been booted clear by Bruno Fernandes. He failed to control the ball and Sancho punished him as he raced clear to slot past Edouard Mendy. But Tuchel reckons the Euro2020 winner was blinded by the lights as the ball came down. “It’s very unusual a mistake like this and to concede a goal like this for us in general, especially with Jorgi,” he told Sky Sport. “He misjudged the situatio...

Rangers defender Borna Barisic is interesting Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard. Gerrard picked up a 2-0 win over Brighton on his debut as manager, and started Matty Targett at left-back. However, he is not set on the Englishman and is keen to add the Light Blues defender to his squad. The Croatian still has three years on his contract at Ibrox, however, with his current deal set to expire in 2024. Smith Rowe Strikes again as Arsenal beat Watford

Emile Smith Rowe scored for the third Premier League game in a row as in-form Arsenal marked Mikel Arteta's 100th game in charge with a 1-0 win over Watford at the Emirates. The Gunners, now unbeaten in 10 games across all competitions, had been by far the better team in the first half without reward. Bukayo Saka had an early strike overturned by VAR for offside and, after Danny Rose's blatant foul on Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty was superbly stopped by the impressive Ben Foster 10 minutes before the break.
