Youths Attack Delta local Council Chairman, cart away rifles

The Chairman of Ethiope West council area of Delta State, Oghenedoro Owoso was on Tuesday May 4 attacked by some youths in Mosogar. The Nation reported that the council chairman was trying to pacify the youths who were protesting an eight-year blackout in the community when things took a different turn. A policeman attached to Owoso was injured during the attack, as the youths took away his rifle and another one belonging to a second security aide. Herdsmen flee Delta community as thunder strike kills 12 cows

Herdsmen on Sunday evening of May 2, ran away from Urhodo-Ovu community in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State as thunder strike killed 12 of their cows. The herdsmen and the cows were in their settlement when the incident occurred minutes after the heavy downpour, DAILY POST gathered. Indigenes and residents of the community especially farmers were, however, happy over the incident. At the time of filing this report, the 12 dead cows were still lying fallow on the ground. Inmates set Delta prison on fire over amnesty

Inmates have reportedly set the Sapele Correctional Service Centre on fire on Monday. It was also learnt that the inmates set the Sapele correctional Centre on fire because 25 inmates were granted amnesty by the state government, but only three persons have been released. Women in Sapele, Delta state today staged a protest over the extension of the lockdown in the state. The state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday April 14th, announced a two weeks extension of the lockdown in the state. The state currently has three confirmed cases of COVID-19 with one death. The protesting women say they are hungry and do not have food to feed themselves or their family members. Delta state has recorded its third case of Coronavirus. The state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, announced this on his Twitter handle this evening. He wrote We have just confirmed the third case of #COVID19 in Delta State. The patient, a male, was diagnosed today in Asaba, our state capital and is currently being managed by our healthcare professionals in one of our isolation centers.''
