ASUU Threatens Fresh strike action

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to embark on yet another strike action following what it called the failure of the Federal Government to implement an agreement signed with the union. Recall that in March 2020, ASUU embarked on a strike following its disagreement with the FG over the funding of the universities and the ineffectiveness and discrepancies around the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System and others. ASUU, however, developed the University Transparency and Accountability Solution to replace IPPIS and had several meetings with the Ministries of Finance, Education, Labour and Employment, and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation before it was approved but yet to be implemented. Postecoglou takes Responsibility for Celtic’s CL Exit

Ange Postecoglou suggested he might not have been forceful enough in his demands for new signings as he took responsibility for Celtic's latest Champions League failure. Celtic missed out on the group stages for a fourth year running as a 2-1 extra-time defeat by Midtjylland consigned them to a 3-2 aggregate loss and a Europa League qualifier against Czech side Jablonec. Celtic have made five summer signings but two of them are in quarantine and another two, young former Sheffield Wednesday pair Osaze Urhoghide and Liam Shaw, did not get off the bench in Denmark. The only new arrival to feature was 19-year-old Liel Abada, who could not build on his goalscoring debut in a quiet display. The Nigeria international has come on in leaps and bounds under Unai Emery, and the UEL final would be a poorer spectacle without him In the summer of 2019, following a first season in charge of Arsenal that had culminated in a painful Europa League final defeat by Chelsea, Unai Emery laid his transfer demands before the Arsenal board. At the top of it was Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, a player who the Spanish manager was convinced could “win games on his own”, and allow a shift away from the back three system that had fallen short against Chelsea in Baku. Instead, the Emirates Stadium hieratchy opted to sign Zaha’s international teammate Nicolas Pepe for a club record fee, believing his potential and greater upside made up for his lack of experience of English football. ...

MURIC Demands Shari’ah Courts In South West & Edo – Ishaq Akintola

There is no single Shari’ah court in South Western Nigeria where Muslims constitute the majority. This is contrary to what obtained in Yorubaland before the advent of the British. There were Shariah courts in Ede, Iwo, Ikirun, Ibadan, etc. Yoruba Muslims are now compelled to take their civil matters like inheritance, marriage, etc to Christo-Western courts. This is preposterous and unacceptable. We demand the establishment of Shariah courts in all South Western states including Edo State where there is a huge percentage of Muslims. Colonial administration was grossly unfair to Muslims. Nigeria was Christianised by Britain and Muslims bore the brunt. We suffered forceful conversion, denial of rightful employment and even worse forms of persecution. But what is most disappoin...
