Two Policemen Injured in Yet Another Attack on a Police Station in Imo

Two police officers are currently nursing their injuries they sustained after gunmen attacked the Mbieri divisional police headquarters on Wednesday night, April 7. Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of the state police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the gunmen stormed the police headquarters at about 10pm but the attack was successfully repelled by the police. He added that the two officers who sustained injuries during the attack are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital. Police stations in Imo state have been under attack in recent times. On Monday, April 5, the state police headquarters was attacked by unidentified gunmen. The Bayelsa State Government has lashed out at those it described as ‘disgruntled politicians’ blaming them for negatives reports targeted at Governor Henry Seriake Dickson. Governor Dickson has appealed to Bayelsans and the general public to ignore recent reports over the Paris Club refunds, saying it was only meant to embarrass the state government.
