Referee Maurice Paarhuis Accidentally Scores In Dutch League, Awards Goal

A referee in the Dutch league got too close to the action this weekend as he scored a goal in a match. The official was taking charge of Harkemase Boys' Derde Divisie clash against HSV Hoek when he found himself in space in the Harkemase box amid a goal-mouth scramble. Hoek had just had an effort heroically scooped off the line by keeper Jouke Bosje before Rik Impens' rebound cannoned of the post and towards safety. Referee Maurice Paarhuis had kept up with the play however, and could not help but turn the ball goalwards with his standing leg. And, although Harkemase had a number of players back, the official put just enough on it for the ball to trickle agonisingly over the line. Football Fans Hire Busty Tattooed Stripper To Invade Pitch

Hardcore fans of third-tier Rijnsburgse Boys took things further last Saturday - paying adult entertainer Foxy to disrupt their home clash with AFC. The tattooed blonde cavorted on the field, clad in little more than body paint and black socks and trainers. Waving a flag, she exchanged banter with an amused player before escaping via a gap in the fencing. However Rijnsburgse failed to rise to the occasion, putting in a limp display to lose 6-2 to their Amsterdam-based visitors. European Leagues Group Calls For More Level Playing Field

A proposal aimed at reducing the financial gulf between the continent’s richest clubs and the rest was put forward by the European Leagues group (EL) on Friday. The umbrella group representing Europe’s domestic football leagues said it would ask UEFA to allocate fewer Champions League group stage slots to teams from the biggest leagues. This is aimed at reducing the number of guaranteed places from four to three to clubs from Germany, England, Spain and Italy. It is also calling for revenue to be more equally distributed between the Champions League and Europa League competitions. It will also seek to overturn recently-implemented changes which rewards clubs financially for their historical record. “Our fundamental principle is to improve competitive balance in domestic and inter...

Dirk Kuyt Announces Retirement After Winning The Dutch Title With Feyenoord

Dirk Kuyt has announced he is retiring from football just three days after captaining Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title. Kuyt, 36, scored a hat trick on Sunday as Feyenoord defeated Heracles 3-1 to beat Ajax to the title -- the first time they have won the trophy in 18 years. The former Netherlands international, who also represented Utrecht, Liverpool and Fenerbahce, will take up a non-playing role with Feyenoord. Kuyt rejoined the Dutch club in 2015 having spent three years there between 2003 and 2006.
