NCAA Issues Ebola Alert To Airlines, Calls For Vigilance

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued warning to airlines over the resurgence of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). This followed the World Health Organization (WHO’s) declaration of Ebola outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Consequently, the NCAA directed all operators, especially airlines operating regional and international flights into the country, to exercise a high level of vigilance. Researchers Generate Antibodies To Ebola Virus Disease

In a breakthrough that could lead to a simple and inexpensive test for Ebola virus disease, researchers have generated two antibodies to the deadly virus. According to a report published in the ScienceDaily, the team of researchers from Loyola University, Chicago, USA, said the antibodies, which are inexpensive to produce, potentially could be used in a simple filter paper test to detect Ebola virus and the related Marburg virus. Using a technology called cell-free ribosome display, the researchers generated two synthetic antibodies that bind to all six Ebola and Marburg viruses. The research involved the use of non-hazardous proteins that sit on the surface of Ebola and Marburg viruses. Because the actual viruses were not used in the study, there was no risk of infection to resea...

Trump Orders All Liberians In America To Vacate The Country Within 12 Months

President Trump said on Tuesday he will end a special immigration program that has allowed nearly 4,000 Liberians to legally live and work in the U.S. over the past 25 years. Liberians will now face a similar situation to thousands of people from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Sudan who had their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) terminated by the Trump administration. They either have to leave the country at the expiration of the deadline or risk becoming undocumented immigrants facing deportation. Liberians were first granted TPS in March 1991 under former President George H.W. Bush due to armed conflicts that were gripping the country, and starting in 1999, Liberians were transferred into a separate program called Deferred Enforced Departure, a classification that allowed th...
