Court Convicts 2 Fake EFCC Operatives, 8 Others In Abeokuta

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Ibadan Zonal Office secured ten convictions on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 before Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The convicts are: Beyioku Olatunji (a.k.a Bashorun), Beyioku Oluwayomi Oluwafemi (a.k.a Ola 1),Adeleke Ridwan Adekunle, AbdulFatai Waliu, Adelani Sarafa Yomi, Folarin Ikeoluwa Akinleye, Adebisi Abiola Victor, Adio Toheeb Oladimeji, Ogundulu Oluwashola Temitope and Amoo Rilwan Babatunde, The Beyioku brothers, Olatunji and Oluwafemi were arrested in November 2019 for allegedly falsely presenting themselves as operatives of the Commission to defraud members of the public. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, arrested a fake native doctor, Fatai Olalere Aliu, who was alleged to be notorious for duping people under the guise of possessing spiritual power to their problems. Aliu was arrested by the operatives of the Commission during a raid on his abode at Kisumu Estate at Odo-Ona Elewe of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. EFCC operatives from the Ibadan zonal office today Thursday, April 25th, arrested 32 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Boys. A statement from the agency says the arrest of the suspects was not an easy task as most of them hid themselves in some ridiculous places in the house where they were arrested. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday said 24 operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested his son-in-law, Alhaji Babalele Abdullahi.
