‘Mourinho Made us Believe We Weren’t Underdogs’- Granero Reveals How Real Madrid Dethroned Barca

In a Goal exclusive, Esteban Granero reveals how the best manager he's ever had played a pivotal role in los Blancos' 2011-12 title triumph When Real Madrid face Barcelona, the football world stops to watch. It will be no different on Saturday, although both teams have fallen well short of their own astronomically high standards in recent times. Compared to a decade ago, El Clasico has lost some of its lustre. With Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola in opposing dugouts, these games were about more than two fierce rivals battling for supremacy on the pitch. They were little short of ideological warfare between clubs and managers with conflicting philosophies. Both believed they were the best, not just in Spain, but anywhere. The sense of excitement and anticipation was almost t...

Clasico Matches Against Madrid Were More Important With Ronaldo – Messi

Lionel Messi believes his 'special' La Liga duel with Cristiano Ronaldo will 'remain forever' in people's minds despite his rival's switch to Serie A. With Messi the figurehead at Barcelona and Ronaldo spearheading Real Madrid from 2009 until 2018, the two attacking superstars dominated world football to win all but one of the last 12 Ballon d'Or awards - with only Luka Modric managing to break the duopoly in 2018. Messi feels the longevity and intensity of his rivalry with Ronaldo was a highlight and that fans will not easily forget their battles even though the Portuguese is now plying his trade for Italian giants Juventus. "It was a special duel and it will remain [in people's minds] forever, because it lasted for many years and it is not easy to maintain such levels for a lo...

The Frenchman could have had two penalties in the first half but Hernandez Hernandez did not give either of ...

Andres Iniesta Savours Barca’s Stamford Bridge Return

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta admitted his late goal to knock Chelsea out in the Champions League semi-finals in 2009 is one of his best memories ahead of his club’s return to Stamford Bridge.
