A Senator who was once exposed by SR as having bought a property illegally, Peter Nwabaoshi, has claimed that ex-convict and ex-governor of Delta State, James Ibori, who was released from prison in the UK on Wednesday, supported Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara to emerge as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Reps, respectively. Ibori, a PDP chieftain, was the governor of the state between 1999 and 2007, and very close to then President Yar'Adua government. The Southwark Crown court had, on April 17, 2012, jailed Ibori for 13 years after he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of money laundering and stealing over $50million from the Delta State treasury. Jimoh Ibrahim Emerges as Candidate for Sheriff-led Faction of PDP

Industrialist Jimoh Ibrahim has emerged the governorship candidate of the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State. The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the primary election commenced on Sunday evening at the Banquet Hall of Premier Hotel, Ibadan. More than 560 accredited votes were recorded and Ibrahim polled 502 votes and his sole contender Olusola Ebiseni polled 41 votes, while 17 votes were invalid. Ali Gulak, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, who announced Ibrahim as the winner said that the party had displayed that democracy was about the people.
