Arteta: I’ve Had Enough of VAR

Mikel Arteta lamented another VAR decision that went against his side as Arsenal were denied a penalty via a contentious call during their 1-0 home defeat to Everton. An error from Bernd Leno saw the Gunners slip to a frustrating loss on an evening where home fans marched on the Emirates Stadium to protest against the club's owners. The action on the pitch did not rival the pre-match protests, which included fireworks that were missing for large parts of the match itself. Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the second period when Dani Ceballos went to ground after a challenge from Richarlison but the decision was overturned after a VAR check ruled Nicolas Pepe was offside in the build-up. "This has been building up. Enough is enough. Today I have had enough," said an irate Artet...

Also, Arsenal have lost seven home league games for the first time since the inaugural Premier League season of 1992-93 The win for Everton put more pressure on those above them in the race for the Champions League spots, while leaving Arsenal way behind the pack. The Merseyside club are on 52 points just three points behind Chelsea in fourth position while Arsenal are ninth. Leno spilled Richarlison’s cross through his own legs in the 76th minute to give the Toffees the lead from what was one of their only attacks of the second half. Arsenal wer...

Arteta Reveals Kroenke Family Position after Failed European Super League Plan

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has disclosed that the Kroenke family (the club’s owner) apologized to him and his players over the Gunners’ failed European Super League plan. Arteta stated this on Thursday ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Everton on Friday night at Emirates. Arsenal, along with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool, were one of the 12 founding members of the European Super League, which was created to replace the Champions League and the Europa League. But after widespread criticisms from fans, pundits, and some key figures in football, all six Premier League clubs announced on Tuesday night that they were withdrawing from the competition. When asked if he and his players have received an apology from the club’s hier...

Arsenal vs Fulham: No more excuses – Arteta fires warning to Pepe

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has warned Nicolas Pepe that his period of “adaptation” at the club is over and there are “no excuses” not to perform from now on. Pepe joined the Gunners in a club record £72million transfer. The Ivorian winger scored a goal in each of the two legs of Arsenal’s 5-1 aggregate Europa League win over Slavia Prague, but has struggled to perform consistently throughout his time at the Emirates. Arteta admits it has taken time for Pepe to settle, although he was clear that the period of transition has to end. “Nico has this ability – it depends on him, we can help him as much as we want but he needs to have the right mindset and consistency to do what he can do. “Because that is the level that we are going to ask of him, the level I am...

Arsenal Cruise into Europa League Semi-finals after 4-0 Win Against Slavia Prague

A blistering first-half display saw Arsenal cruise past Slavia Prague 4-0 to progress to the Europa League semi-finals 5-1 on aggregate. The visitors arrived in the Czech capital knowing they had to score to have a chance of qualifying against a Slavia team who had not lost at the Eden Arena for 18 months, but they had an early 'goal' ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee for the tightest of offsides against Emile Smith Rowe. However, Mikel Arteta's side soon made up for that disappointment when Nicolas Pepe's neat, close-range finish gave them a deserved 18th-minute lead, which they soon doubled thanks to Alexandre Lacazette's penalty (21). Three minutes later Arsenal were in dreamland when Bukayo Saka's low drive from the edge of the box made it 3-0, with their captain La...
