Brands Running Adverts On CNN, Others To Pay ₦100,000 Fine – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says Nigerian brands like Guinness which run adverts during foreign matches must compulsorily advertise during Nigerian Premier Football League games. The minister further stated that brands that create their adverts abroad but broadcast them on CNN and other international stations broadcasting in Nigeria will pay a fine of N100,000 each time such adverts are run. The Federal Government has insisted that any undocumented alien that fails to take part in the e-registration of the Nigeria Immigration Service will be deported after the January 12, 2020 deadline. The NIS spokesman, Sunday James, who stated this in a telephone interview with The PUNCH, also said any Nigerian who engaged undocumented migrants as security guards, nannies or housemaids could be sentenced to seven years in jail and fined N1m by the court as from January 2020. FG To Enforce N50,000 Fine For Public Smoking

Following the launch of campaign to ban smoking in public places including motor parks, shopping malls and health care centres, the Nigerian government in a communiqué has said it is going to enforce Section 9 of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015, which says that once convicted, offenders are liable to a fine of at least N50, 000 and/or six months’ imprisonment. The Ministry of Health in its ‘Clean Air Campaign’,  said the law would henceforth be taken seriously in a bid to protect and promote the citizens’ right to health, life, physical integrity and safety.
