Oil Tanker Explodes in Lagos

A tanker explosion has occurred on both lanes around Toyota bus-stop inwards Mile 2, along Oshodi-Apapa expressway. The tanker was fully loaded with fuel at the time it exploded. Fire service arrived at the scene to put out the fire. Giving an update on Twitter moments later, the Federal Fire Service said, "Update:The tanker fire situation at Toyota Bus stop, along Oshodi Apapa Expressway, Lagos State has been brought under control."

Tanker Explosion On Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Road: LRU & Fire Service Were Attacked By Hoodlums While Responding To Fire

The agency responded to the incident at 0105hrs this morning according to the State emergency response plan. The joint team (agency + @LAG_FireService) was waylaid on arrival by a group of miscreants brandishing weapons and was forced to seek extra police cover from the Isheri Police Station. The operation commenced with the police protection until the group of assailants grew larger and caused significant damage to vehicles and threats to life of our personnel. The team was forced to suspend the Recovery operation for safety reasons. It is of note that this attack is part of a very worrisome trend of first responders being attacked in the course of their duties. Lagosians are urged to refrain from endangering the lives of emergency responders.

Nursing Mother and her Three Children Burnt to Death in Niger State

A woman and her three children, including a one-month-old baby, were burnt to death inside their apartment in the Nkangbe area of Minna, the Niger state capital today June 10. According to reports, the woman lived with her hubby and his other wife, Fati, inside the building. In the night, an intense fire engulfed the building, burning her and her children to death while the second wife and her two children suffered serious burns. A neighbor who spoke on the incident, said the husband of both women usually stayed in Abuja where he worked and returned home most weekends. Laborer Dies as Bank Building Collapses in Lagos

A labourer has died after a Keystone Bank building at Palmgroove collapsed in Lagos on Saturday evening, March 7th. The storey building located along Ikorodu Road, was undergoing renovation when it caved in at about 7:20pm. The deceased was amongst the labourers working on the site when it collapsed. Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Police, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) and fire service were at the scene of the incident.

A tanker on Tuesday, exploded inside a mechanic workshop at Amawbia bypass,Enugu /Onitsha Expressway Awka, the Anambra state capital. Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that the fire was raging. Fire razes Edo State spare parts market

Goods worth several millions of naira have been destroyed in a midnight fire that razed the biggest motor spare parts market in Edo State located at Uwelu, in Egor Local Government Area of the state.   The fire was said to have started at about 11:45pm Monday night, August 12th and lasted till about 4am after efforts from fire service men from the University of Benin and the Nigerian Army.   Sections of the market affected by the fire were the lines were Mercedes Benz, Mazda, Ford and Toyota parts are sold. It was gathered that some of the affected traders just bought goods to fill their stores. Many Escape Death As Raging Fire Guts Warehouses, Shops At Lagos Market

According to a report by Daily Trust, a fire incident at 4 Market Street Tinubu Square on Lagos Island left many shops and warehouses burnt yesterday. It was learnt that the inferno broke out from a three-storey building in the area. Officers of the state fire service were immediately mobilized to the scene to quell the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining shops. The ever busy Market Square on the Island yesterday was chaotic as emergency officials including the state Emergency Management Agency made efforts to put out the fire. Eyewitnesses said the fire incident caused a near stampede scenario among traders and stall owners in the shops to avoid being stuck in the inferno. The emergency agency said no life was lost.

Early morning fire razes 13 shops in Agbara Market

An early morning infeno on Wednesday consumed no fewer than 13 shops located at the Agbara Market, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Lagos. The fire which began at about 4.35 a.m. started from one of the container shops opposite the expressway, but its cause has yet to be ascertained. The 13 shops are all situated in a single line directly opposite the expressway. A shop owner, Mrs Funmi Olabode, said she was contacted on phone by a neighbour who informed her of the incidence. Eyewitnesses were filmed screaming in terror as fire razed the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, Imo state. Lagos fire service boss, six others kidnapped

Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau and seven others have been kidnapped by gunmen along Itoikin-Epe road in Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, LCDA in the state. The management of the University of Ibadan has dismissed insinuations that a former lecturer, Mr Aminu Zubair, who died in his residence on the institution’s campus, committed suicide. Alhaji Ahmed Danyaro-Gumel, Director, Jigawa Fire Service, on Thursday said seven lives and property worth N93 million were lost to various fire outbreaks in the state from January to December, 2018. The Kano State Fire Service said fire destroyed 77 temporary shops at Kasuwar Kurmi (‘Yan Gumama) Market in Kano. 11 Die In 533 Fire Incidents In Sokoto

The Sokoto State Fire Service said on Thursday that it recorded 11 deaths and saved 77 lives in 533 fire incidents it responded to in the state  in 2017. Alhaji Murtala Muhammad, the Director-General of the State Fire Service, gave the figures  in an interview with our reporter in Sokoto. A driver was killed yesterday and 10 others were injured in two accidents on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
