EFCC grills former Edo state governor, Lucky Igbinedion, over fraud allegations

Lucky Igbinedion, a former governor of Edo state, has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations bordering on diversion of public funds amounting to about N1.6 billion. According to The Cable, Igbinedion arrived at the anti-graft headquarters in Abuja on Thursday afternoon, November 11, for questioning and remained in EFCC custody till past midnight. Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, who confirmed that Igbinedion was in the custody of the agency, didn’t give further details on why the former governor was invited. Court orders immediate release of Peter Odili’s passport seized by immigration

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has ordered the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to immediately release the international passport of the former governor of Rivers State Peter Odili. Odili had approached the court to challenge the seizure of his passport by the NIS. He told the court that his passport with number B50031305 was seized from him on June 20 by NIS officials for an undisclosed reason, shortly after he landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. EFCC grills former Kano state Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso

Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was on Saturday October 16 grilled by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of abuse of office, diversion of public funds and fraudulent allocation of government properties to cronies. The Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party was first invited by the EFCC in September, but reportedly failed to honour the invitation. An associate of the politician told Channels Television that Kwankwanso may have been invited in relation to a petition by some retired employees of the Kano State Government. The retired employees had claimed that the former governor mismanaged pension remittances to the tune of N10 billion between 2011 and 2015, to fund a housing project for his cronies.

Former Governor of Kwara state, Abdulfatah Ahmed has been released after spending two nights in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody. Ahmed who was grilled over alleged diversion of N9billion from the coffers of Kwara State government during his tenure as governor of the state between 2011 and 2019, was detained by the operatives of the anti-graft agency after he honoured an invitation by the agency at about 10a.m. on Monday May 17. He was released on Wednesday May 19, after writing statements during the interrogation session.

Fire on Sunday, gutted a section of the supermarket belonging to the wife of late former governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.   The supermarket known as Grandex Stores located at Bodija, Ibadan, was said to be on fire at about 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, as a result of an electrical surge from the back of the store which later got out of hands, turned into a wildfire and spread to the main building.   The Deputy Director, Oyo State Fire Service, Moshood Adewuyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that the timely intervention of the state’s firefighters prevented the store from burning into ashes,   He disclosed that the fire destroyed some sections of the store and damaged a lot of goods stored inside.   Mrs. Florence Ajimo...

  A former governor of old Ondo state, Evangelist Bamidele Isola Olumilua has died at the age of 80. Ekiti Reporters confirmed his death following a chat with a family member.
