President Buhari Storms Borno On Thursday For Official Visit

Governor Babagana Zulum has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday visit Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, for a one-day working visit. Naija News reports that the Borno governor disclosed this on Tuesday evening at the Government House in the state capital. During his visit, Zulum said that the President would be appraising the security situation in the northeast. The Kwara state government has again shut down 10 schools following a dispute that stemmed from wearing of hijab. Recall that Christian leaders had earlier kicked against muslim students wearing hijab to the Christian schools which are now funded by the state government. Reps To Investigate Abandoned Projects In Nigeria

The House of Representatives has vowed to track all abandoned projects in the country to ensure their completion. Rep. Makki Abubakar, Chairman of the house ad hoc committee on abandoned projects said this in Abuja on Thursday. ‘The committee was set-up to investigate executed, funded and repeated capital projects in the Appropriation Act,” he said. He said that there were many abandoned projects in the annual budgets scattered across the country. Presidency clarifies projects to be funded with $311m Abacha loot

The Presidency on Wednesday made clarification on the projects to be funded by the repatriated Sani Abacha loot. In a statement to DAILY POST on Wednesday by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, he said the recently repatriated loot will go towards only three of the Federal Government’s five priority projects. Police in the Atlantic archipelago of Cape Verde say they have seized nearly 10 tons of cocaine and arrested 11 Russian sailors aboard a vessel docked in the capital.   Authorities said the seizure represented the largest single drug haul in the island country's history. Cape Verde, a group of islands off Africa’s west coast with a population of some 500,000, has long battled gangs trafficking Latin American cocaine to Europe through West Africa.   The Russian Embassy in Cape Verde said it had received information the Russian sailors will appear in court on February 2.
