Real Madrid are now top of the La Liga table after doing the double over Barcelona for the first time since 2007-08 by winning 2-1 on Saturday night, April 10. It was a very entertaining game as Madrid’s counter-attacking tactics worked well, particularly in the first half as Karim Benzema put Madrid 1-0 ahead. 33-year-old Benzema was first to meet Lucas Vazquez's low cross towards the near post, squeezing a backheeled flick past Marc-Andre ter Stegen for his 25th goal in 35 appearances this season. Barcelona fell further behind when Kroos' free-kick took a deflection off Sergino Dest on its way past Ter Stegen. Federico Valverde could have made it 3-0 before half-time, but his shot across goal came back off the inside of the far post. In the second half Coach Ro...

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since picking up the injury against Caen on February 10. Neymar returned to light training, but PSG confirmed on Tuesday that this week’s second leg against Barca in the round-of-16 comes too soon. “He’s very sad. He was really looking forward to going to Barcelona. He loves Barcelona. “He’s a player who loves to play these games, he’s made for them,” PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino said. Neymar, who joined PSG from Barca for a world record €222million fee in 2017, also missed the first leg at Camp Nou, which the French champions won 4-1.

Man United Can Still Win Premier League title – Guardiola

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has insisted that Manchester United can still challenge his team to win the Premier League title this season. Man United are still 11 points behind Man City on the log with just ten games to go. The Red Devils defeated Guardiola’s side 2-0 at Etihad last Saturday. Asked if Man City could still be hauled in by Man United, Guardiola told a press conference on Tuesday ahead of Man City’s game against Southampton on Wednesday: “Of course when the options are open, anything can happen in football. “Nobody thought we could go [winning] 21 games in a row, 15 in the Premier League, so everything can happen. “A team like [Manchester] United can do it. There are ten games left, and we have to win six or seven to be champions mathematically. ...

De Gea vs Henderson: Rio Ferdinand Names Man United’s Number One Goalkeeper

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has named David de Gea ahead of Dean Henderson as his Red Devils’ number one goalkeeper. De Gea travelled to Spain for the birth of his first child and will miss Man United’s next five matches. The Spaniard is expected to return to Old Trafford after the international break. However, Henderson has already performed well in De Gea’s absence, keeping clean sheets in games against Crystal Palace and Manchester City, respectively. Asked if Henderson can be Man United’s future number one goalkeeper, Ferdinand said on his Vibe with FIVE YouTube series: “Listen, it’s a battle. But you have got to listen to what Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] said in the press conference after: he’s got the shirt for now until De Gea is back. That...

Man City vs Man Utd: The Blood is Boiling – Solskjaer

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said Sunday’s Derby against Manchester City is the best game to bounce back from their run of draws, as their blood will be boiling. The Red Devils have failed to score in their last three fixtures and Solskjaer feels they have been missing something recently. But the Norwegian is hoping his players can thrive on their good record against the league leaders – having won home and away against City last season. “It’s always the perfect game to get everyone going again,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports News. “You get tested against a very good team, in form. As a Manchester United player we know how much this means for our fans. “For this team, we’ve had some of our best moments against City, away and at home. We’ve s...

Burnley vs Arsenal: Premier League Releases Statement over Penalty Decision

The English Premier League, EPL, has explained the decision not to award Arsenal a penalty in Saturday’s clash against Burnley at Turf Moor. Arsenal was angry in the 75th minute when Nicolas Pepe’s touch inside Burnley’s box led the ball to hit Erik Pieters’ outstretched arm, but the Gunners were not awarded a penalty following a VAR review. Two goals from Chris Wood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave both teams a point each. However, the Premier League has now issued a statement on the matter, which read: “The ball hit him from close proximity and he had no time to react. “It was not given on-field, and the VAR did not think it was a clear error.” The result against Burnley means Arsenal are now in the tenth position on the EPL log with 38 points from 27 games...

Arsenal Very far from Being my Team – Arteta admits

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has admitted the current squad is still “very, very far,” from being his own team. The Gunners have won seven of their last 12 Premier League games since Christmas. However, they travel to Burnley in Saturday’s early kick-off in 10th place, after a poor first-half of the season. When asked how close the current Arsenal side was to being what he views as his own, Arteta said: “Very far. Very, very far. “There’s still a lot to improve, a lot of quality to add. [We need to be] much more efficient in decision-making, much quicker to open situations up when advantages are there, many more situations to feel when advantages are obtained. “More control of games, more defensive actions in the opponent’s half, fewer giveaways in our own half, more c...

Man City vs Man Utd: We are not Suffering a Crisis of Confidence – Solskjaer

Manchester United Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has insisted his players are having a crisis of confidence ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City. The Red Devils have gone three games without a goal. Ahead of the Derby, United have played three consecutive 0-0 draws. City, on the other hand, have opened a 14-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. United have managed just two wins from their last eight league games, but Solskjaer insists his team are not out of form. “We had a week without scoring a goal,” Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday. “It’s not like six weeks with bad form. Not long we won 9-0 [against Southampton], 4-0 against a Real Sociedad team that should have won against Real Madrid at the weekend. “I’m not buying in...

I Will Keep Substituting you – Klopp Fires Warning to Salah

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has insisted he will keep taking Mohamed Salah off during games, if he doesn’t perform. Speaking to the media on Friday, Klopp made it clear he will take the best decisions for the team, without caring what the headlines will be. Salah, the Premier League’s leading scorer this season, was replaced around the hour mark at Anfield on Thursday night. The Egyptian winger was unable to hide his disbelief when leaving the field. “I think he enjoys the pressure [of being top scorer],” Klopp said. “He’s been outstanding again. I could have changed last night other players but it was more about who we bring on and he looked like he felt the intensity. He maybe saw it different, that’s fine. “We make these decisions in the moment. Then...

Premier League champions, Liverpool, have set two records following their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night at Anfield. Chelsea defeated Liverpool following Mason Mount’s first-half goal to secure all three points for Thomas Tuchel’s side. The result against Chelsea means it was Liverpool’s fifth consecutive defeat at home, which is their worst run at Anfield in the club’s entire history. The loss to Chelsea is also the first time a reigning Premier League champion has lost five league games at home in a row, Metro UK reports. Liverpool are now 22 points behind leaders Manchester City. The Reds are now facing an uphill battle to secure a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Liverpool vs Chelsea: We Don’t Have Rights to go to Champions League – Klopp Cries after 1-0 Defeat

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool do not have the rights to go to next season’s Champions League after their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday. The German described the loss as a “massive blow” to his side’s hopes of finishing in the top four. It was Mason Mount’s first-half strike that gave Thomas Tuchel’s side all three points at Anfield and handed the Reds a fifth straight home defeat for the first time in the club’s history. Chelsea found themselves in the top four with the victory and Klopp’s side are now four points adrift of that with Everton and West Ham ahead of them. “It is a massive blow,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “It is not done yet, but we don’t have to talk about if you lose that many games, you don’t have the right to g...
