Gbagada, Lagos Joggers Must Be Quarantined For 14 Days – Court Rules

A magistrate’s court in Yaba, Lagos state, has sentenced 34 persons to 14 days quarantine and one month community service for violating the state’s directives. They were arrested on Wednesday for participating in fitness exercise along the Gbagada-Oworonsoki expressway. The federal government had on March 30 imposed a 14-day lockdown on Lagos, Ogun and the federal capital territory as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic. Lagos government had also ordered that every gathering in the state should not exceed 20 persons in a bid to ensure social distancing measures. Identity Of The Man Who Jumped Off The Third Mainland Bridge Revealed

It was reported yesterday of a young man who boarded a car-hailing service, Uber from Gbagada. He had complained of stomach trouble and asked to relieve himself only to jump into the lagoon. A search has been carried out by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) who in turn had engaged local divers. Chances of getting him alive is slim, as the search has been suspended for two days as a result of exhaustion and the opposing water-currents. However, Idowu Badmos, driver of the call cab, and his car has been taken to Adekunle Police Station, Yaba, Lagos. The identity of the young man has been found to be Daibo Toju Davies, 22 years old and lives at 17 Sosanya Street, Gbagada, Lagos State.

The family members of a bricklayer stabbed to death at his father-in-law’s burial party at Alebiosu Street, Mile 12 area of Lagos State, are seeking justice over the untimely death of their son. The man identified as Salami was stabbed to death by a hoodlum in the neighborhood, identified as Michael Adebanjo, who is still at large, Punch Metro reports. LASEMA Rescues Man Stuck In Mud

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), yesterday, rescued a middle-aged male destitute that got stuck in the mud around the Third Mainland Bridge. The agency said it was yet to identify the victim. It said the man’s buttocks had been seen sticking out of the sand and that he might have been stuck for over 24 hours before help arrived. He was thereafter moved to Gbagada General Hospital for medical treatment. On hand to lend support during the rescue were the Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Ambulance Services. The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, advised Lagosians to imbibe safe practices.

Court Acquits Nurse In Case Of House Help Burnt To Death

An Ikeja High Court, yesterday, discharged and acquitted a 55-year-old nurse, Nkese Iroakasi, charged with the murder of a minor (name withheld). Delivering the judgment, Justice Raliatu Adebiyi, said the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the deceased died as a result of the defendant’s action. She ruled: “The defendant, Nkese Iroakasi, is hereby found not guilty of the one count charge of murder preferred against her. Tuesday afternoon around the Gbagada axis of Lagos State, this kidnapper was caught when he tried to kidnapped a baby and the baby's Grandma. According to an eye witness who spoke to us, 'the mother of the little baby just parked, left the Granny and baby in the car so she could use a nearby ATM. She left the car engine on and before she returned the kidnapper entered the car and was drove off'. He continued to tell us that, 'thank God for this soldier guy that just chased him down with a motorbike and it was really rough.
